Decided to chrony while breaking in the new barrel and get some numbers. Was not really trying to shoot tight groups, just wanted some lead downrange and see where Hammer settings and the regulator set point is.

Marauder Pistol, Hill parts kit w peek striker, Huma reg set to 115 ( stock gauge is slightly off) new LW custom barrel. Hawke Airmax Touch.
Barracuda Hunters. 1st group is a wash, was fidgeting with the chrony, thus the zero hammer spring is the last group. Group 4 had some wind so I shot at dots and then a group.

Thanks! This p-rod is a fun project. I keep another one completely stock for posterity. Boyds wood stock will go on once tuning is done. Hill parts and Huma reg are new as well so this is a frankenbreak-in test before any attempts at pellet selection with the new barrel. Going to walk the reg up a few bars and repeat. But based on the numbers it looks like theres a nice 1,2 and 3 mag starting point for that pressure. Hill parts makes a huge sound difference. Dog didn’t even wake up once.

Note: when copy/pasta the chrony #’s I left off one from a group. My bad.

Sqrl,

reading thru the list of shot velocities, I see a couple things....

Group one had the first shot at 350, then the sceond shot at 550.... remove both of those and recalculate everything. (remember to reduce shot count by 2 though....). The 350 fps is an outlier, not part of an average string. (ALWAYS... if youi drop low numbers off the list, you also have to drop the same number of shots off the high end)

Scanning the rest of your data groups, Group 2 Id have not incldued the 3rd mag’s data, since its already below the rest of the strings’ velocity.

Looks like group 7 was the most consisitnet, but even then I see a low number that shouldbt be included. But if you drop the the lowest 3, 529, 528, and 520 at the low end, AND drop the 544,544 and 543 off the high end. Recalulate and check the numbers.

IMO, once you see the numbers drop below the other numbers, STOP. Those are not valid data. Even with those six removed from, thats 3 mags of shots at a very consistent speed.

Dan,

thanks for the input! Yeah, i shot more than needed. The data is all raw so the first group is all wonky for sure. Also left out a number in group 3. Must have been a longer afternoon than i thought!

Jury is still out about the reg. i took out the reg and found it had backed off a few bar. Meh. Trying 120-125bar next Also removed the gauge port, only had it in to compare the gauge.

The Prod is a fun project, so thanks for posting your strings. Having had an Mrod and installed a regulator and played the same game, when I got my Prod I decided to keep it all factory. I have been having a blast shooting more with the Prod in my backyard than my other airguns. Good luck with your project. Hope to see more data and great results.

Cheers

Chase

Overdue update.
Started shooting this in FT. Added eva foam for cheekrest, buttpad, etc. RAI adapter to bare tube, diy attach to monopod as a buttstock. It aint pretty but its super comfy. Changed scopes too. Hawke is defective, whatever, its Hawke. Fast fwd and noticed a few vertically challenged fliers during the recent match. O ring at the tp. Meh. Time for more tweaking while apart. Drilled out the barrel transfer port to 9/64”, deburred the throat and ran some 6k grit over the internal lip. JB bore pasted the barrel with a mop 5 times using a wood dowel to push trough. Hand turned breech only a few extra times and hit pre groove with 6k grit. Cleaned w acetome and ran a bit of fp10 down then dried. Touched up the grease on the regulator orings, set to 125bar, cleaned the hammer, buffed with 8k grit, and lubed with a dry lube. While apart i also adjusted the “L” shaped guide plate. There was a small catch point when the bolt was pulled back. Reassembled, aired up and went to shoot. Not sure it matters but I screwed the breech and airtube together first, then tightened the barrel set screws. Idea was to let the barrel seat itself. Shot 3 mags of unsorted HN FT Trophy at 20 yds and stopped for the day to consider a Guinness after seeing a four leaf clover. Two mag tune is what i was after.
