I would rather have em tight than loose.

Its your pellets not the magazine.

If pellets are tight going into the magazine, would it be a consideration that they may be tight coming out; thus scoring the pellets as they fire?

If so that could impact upon accuracy

I've used a little round needle file to open up the wheel just enough so the pellets drop in and dont need to be seated. Easy does it.

Leave them tight. If they're loose it will sometimes screw up loading sequence especially since is yours is a 177 when you pull back the bolt if loose your pellet can come back out of the magazine or you may shove them pellets sideways trust me on this.

You probably already had it happen with Crosman CPHPs since they fit loose in the magazine. Opening the index "gears" will make it more loose right? You don't want that at all.

Try filing ONE of your magazine you will see what I'm talking about loading and smashing pellets sideways in your barrel when closing the bolt home and pellets coming back out if the magazine when you open the bolt happening once in a while as it rides against-across the probe indexing the next round.

Sure but if loose it can damage subsequent pellets too when it bumps the next round against the magazine stop when indexed just like the Theoben Rapid and Raw 177 magazines pkus loading pellets sideways and smashing the skirts closing the bolt home worse on accuracy than self sizing straight through virgin nagazines. Been there done that way too many times why do you think FX sideshot customers got problems some slugs tipping over sideways too loose fit in magazine.

Hajimoto has a YT video one how to work with those mags. I did several of my 17 caliber mags with no problems at all. They feed perfectly and I dont have to mess around seating them in the mag. I just went nice and slow and would check often to make sure they werent getting sloppy. Good luck.

I disassemble my Mrod mags before use. I polish the hole so pellets drop in and sinei I shoot H and N Terminators which have a point I use a screwdriver as a tool to tweak the surface that the tip rides in when rotating. There are injection molding voids which will allow the tip to catch on and prohibit rotation. Takes a few minutes but beats shooting without a pellet when hunting bushytails.

You probably only shoot long heavy pellets.

Try loading short pellets in a modded (enlarged all 10 of them pellet dividers-holders-separators) 177 Marauder magazine like the 7.9 CPHPs and 7.4 Crosman Pointeds and wadcutters or match and 7.33 AA and 7.33 JSBs. 

Hajimoto did a video on the Gauntlet magazine which is basically identical to the Marauder magazine.
