Marauder Field and Target arrived.....this rifle is stupid.

Stupid easy to shoot accurately that is. It arrived on Thursday and AOA really did a great job packing the rifle. It's the F&T which is regulated and has the Lothar/Walther barrel. Today was the day to try out my first PCP. After performing an initial wipe down and barrel cleaning, it was time to mount the scope, get it charged up with air and hit the range to see what this is all about. All I've known is springers. The hardest thing to figure out (it had me cussing for a few minutes) was that Da%# magazine. Once that was understood it was all a breeze. I probably ran roughly around 200-250 pellets through it today. There were some hiccups, but nothing major. Had 2 or 3 times that I accidentally chambered two pellets. Really learned to pay to attention to that. Other than that it was super enjoyable to shoot. I didn't use the chrony today, I will use that the next time I shoot to monitor how the regulator is controlling velocity over firing cycles. But, I did notice that the more I shot the more consistent the rifle became. I'm sure this is due to "break in". I assume it will continue to get better. I am looking forward to using the chronograph on it soon. Bottom line....I am super pleased with how the Marauder shoots. It takes so little effort to shoot with lights out accuracy. I am loving this rifle. It looks like it'll be my squirrel hunting rig this winter.....boy I can't wait. I do have a few questions, but I'm not ready to ask yet...I'll do a bit more research first. Anyway, I couldn't be happier at the moment with the performance of this rifle. I feel like Benjamin did well by this rifle and I'm finally relieved now knowing that I made a good decision.......I was sweating it until today.😂

Here are a few pics from this afternoon......

I only tried two pellets today. I tried Crossman Premier Domed 14.3g. They didn't do very well. But, the H&N FTT 5.53's 14.66g that my Diana loves actually did pretty darn well in the Marauder. The 35 yard index card was a 5 shot group. The other target at 45 yds. were 4 shot groups. The small dots on this target are about dime diameter. I forgot to use a coin for reference. These were some of the best groups. I had several that were not as good. But, these were shot near the end of the evening. The rifle improved during the afternoon.....the more firing cycles, the better it seemed to group. I am very curious as to what other pellets may do even better in this rifle. I'm looking forward to trying some others. These were just what I already had on hand.

Thanks

TR.

Awesome, this takes me back almost six years ago when I had my first two Marauders. Makes me wish I had kept them for sentimental value ;-)

Very respectable groups with the H&N's. And looks like you were shooting without a rear bag also? Hope you'll try the 15.9 and 18.1 JSB's soon!

Thanks for the update.

Hence the main reason I won’t ever sell my gen2 synrod in 25 cal. Is it front heavy- yes. Is it as accurate as my wildcat? No. Is it accurate enough? Heck yeah! Worst thing that happened, is I learned about Hill Airguns.com, and modded my gun with all his aftermarket goodies. To the original poster- first thing I would do is buy and install Tim Hills barrel shroud clamp. It’ll improve/tighten up your groups big time, and you will have no worries about changing your point of impact by leaning the barrel of your rifle against the wall. If I ever got another Marauder, that the first mod to it. Plus, it comes with a pic rail for flashlight mounting.

Try the H&N barracuda hunter extreme pellets. They are the most accurate in mine, next being the H&N Crow Magnums

That looks great and seems to working that way too. I'm planning on getting one in .177.

As far as preventing double feeding, the way I do it, since the marauder has a manual safety, if I ever have the gun cocked with a pellet in it _and I put it down or don't shoot it immediately_ I put the safety on. So if I ever pick the gun up or am walking around in the woods, and the safety is on I know it's ready to shoot. If the safety is off, it's ready to cock. It sounds simplistic but it works for me. I really don't want a double feed mucking with the muzzle of the shroud.

Thanks Bigragu, that is one of the things that I noticed fairly quickly. The barrel shroud moves really easily even to the touch. I was curious as to whether leaning it on something would possibly have any adverse effect. I've already checked out the Hill's website. Appreciate it.

CampFussell, Yes I am shooting without a rear bag. I also ordered some JSB Diablo Exacts15.9's to try along with an extra magazine. I'll probably make another pellet order tonight as well. Thank you.

Good pick & nice shooting. Have you done the trigger yet? Eliminate the extra torsion (?) spring the "1st 100" did not have and you've pretty close to a match trigger -seems I recall pitching the "weight" screw & spring up front also, maybe- .

Pretty well a mirror copy of the MFR trigger (and clip). Pictures in case someone needs them:

you might want to click around on all his Marauder posts even tho there are Gen1 .

I appreciate it. I have not done anything to the gun, I've only had it a week now. Thanks for the link, it looks like there may be some good information I can use there.
