Marauder .25 to .177

Marauder .25 to .177? I have built a .25 Franken-rod which left me with almost enough parts to finish out a second rifle. I do not have a .177 in the stable and thought it a good opportunity to build a .177. Here's the main question: will a .177 barrel/probe fit the .25 breech? Or is there a barrel diameter difference that would prevent this? I noticed the breech parts have different part numbers. ???

The probe are different in size and (I can only speak about Gen I Marauder) (I have one of each caliber), the .177 probe is just that a probe (bolt) being .177 inch in diameter.

The .25 bolt probe has a hollow portion on the portion that touches the pellet. The hollowed out portion matches up with the TP to capture the air as the rifle is fired.

So, the answer is the .177 bolt/probe will fit the .25 breech, it just won’t do anything except push the pellet in..

It could be done with a custom barrel and Gen 2 .177 cal bolt with a little work but you would have to single load as the magazine widths are different too. All Gen 2 bolts are flow around style and are not cupped like Gen 1 .25 cal bolts are. But it would be a cool custom Mrod .177 cal slug gun with wide breech opening for loading if done with a custom machined Lothar Walters barrel blank. Just my 2cents.

Thanks. I think I will just go with another .25. I have all the parts for a second gun except for the barrel, trigger group, and a few ancillary parts. Sent the OEM air tube out to be cut down by about 6 inches and have a gunsmith lined up to cut the new barrel a little...ala carbine Marauder. Shot count be darned! Looking to make something for camping or the truck that allows a magazine or two of hard hitting shots in a smallish package. Throw on a Donny FL Tatsu and drop it in a modified a Armada chassis...maybe with a folding stock. Yep, full on Mall Ninja! =)
