These guys were watching as I was having my morning walk about. Surprised at how close they let me get. Great stuff out here. Think I will take my Bobcat out for a walk at lunch. Saw some English sparrows up to no good at one of my corn feeders.

Are they letting you get close because they're out of season, or because you were empty handed?

Both Im sure. I never get to see them until a day before or a day after the season. Nice picture. Where in NC are you?

I was walking a field parameter with a walking stick and looked up and there they were. I eyeballed them a bit and slow pulled phone and a few snaps was had. They were 30y. I resumed my walk away from them and they never moved. I see them in my field cams quite often though. I am in Catawba county. Near Hickory. And yes they are a majestic site.
