Make a believer out of me!

I was skeptical that different pellets would make a difference in the POI at 25/30 yards. I started out with Exact Jumbo Heavys at 18.13 gr with my new .22 HW95L and was disappointed with the groups. I then tried the Field Target Trophy at 14.66 gr and had a 5 shot group at less than 1" at 28 yards. Less than 100 shots through the HW95L so far but I am impressed with this result and the type of pellets make a difference at least for me & my rifle. I would suggest that folks at least give the FTT 14.66 gr pellets a try. These Weihrauch air rifles are really sweet and such a joy to shoot for this 81 year old Red Neck! Tree rats are in BIG trouble this fall.

I think it’s pretty well universal that FTT’s are one of the best pellets in a .22 cal R9/HW95. And as mentioned, the one I gave to my dad also does OK with the cheap Crosman Premiers. Another pellet worth trying is the 11.75 grain GTO. I only have experience with this one individual rifle, but they group acceptably well and do 840+ FPS out of it compared to ~710 for the FTT’s and ~720 for the CPHP’s.

I have a sample of the. 22 GTO Predators. Weighted 25 of them for a average of 11.78 gr. Had one that weighed 12 gr and one at 11.6 gr. These are probably the most consistent pellets I've ever weighed. Good quality! Haven't shot them yet but they're suppose to be accurate in the Sig ASP20. Probably chronograph a few shots in both my Sig and RWS 34.

5.54's were spectacular out of my (eeerrr

Same here. The Air Arms Falcons also shoot very well out of mine. Yeah they were pricey, but well worth it for how well they shoot for me.

I have a tin of the 5.55's but haven't had the time to see how they shoot accuracy wise.

These are 5.53s I believe at 28 yards with circles at 1" & 2" diameter, 6 shots. Still less than 100 shots through the HW95L.

A few years ago I brought a bunch of .22 cal pellets to test. I have been airguning since 1991 and I never gave pellet head sizes any thought or believed in the "my barrel loves/hates this or that pellet.” I was usually a grab and go guy when it came to using pellets, as long as they were domed JSB, H&N or RWS I was fine. I tested a stock BSA Supersport MK2 in .22 with a recently cleaned barrel with the following pellets:

Beeman FTS 14.66 grain 5.5mm
JSB Exact Jum Ex Diablo 14.35 grain 5.5mm
H&N FTT 14.66 grain 5.55mm
H&N FTT 14.66 grain 5.54mm
H&N FTT 14.66 grain 5.53mm

All shots where indoors at 30 and 50 feet while seated using a red dot rested on a old memory foam pillow.

I shot each of the 5 different pellets 5 times into each target and repeated the test 3 additional times, it was time consuming but well worth it.

The H&N FTT 14.66 grain 5.53mm gave me the best group, the JSB came in second. All of the pellets fit petty much the same, none were too loose or too tight. I didn’t lube, sort, wash or weigh any of the pellets, there was no wind since it was indoors, I didn’t have a chrony or a ruler to measure my groups. I know I didn’t test long range but I do believe that barrels will favor a pellet or two.

I fired 5 shots over my chrony today with the .22 GTO Predators with my ASP20. 943 fps @ 23 ft lbs. I'll do some accuracy testing with them. Many report they are accurate in magnum springers. Being light they'd probably make a good hunting pellet out to 25 yards.

That might be a little too fast. I’ve read that they tend to do best under 860 FPS. I had a Hatsan 95 that did right at 900 with them, and you could see them corkscrewing in the scope as they flew down range. How fast does your 34 shoot them?

Makes sense to me. They shoot a little harsh in my Sig telling me they are to light. Although, if you watch the Airgun Depot video that Travis did on the .22cal Sig ASP20 he averaged close to 970 fps with the GTO. I think that test rifle was on steroids though. The Airgun Depot business is in Utah at somewhere around 4500 ft above sea level. At that elevation my gun would probably shoot the GTO somewhere in the 900 fps range. That means if I shot that test rifle at my location ( 85 ft above sea level) I'd be close to 1000 fps ! Or...26 ft lbs of energy which is way higher than the production rifles. Travis achieved very good accuracy with the GTO. Probably one of the better pellets accuracy wise. The Sig Wraith alloy pellet at 12.35 gr (they actually weight 13.3 gr on average) had the best accuracy of the pellets he tried. Tom Gaylord also got excellent accuracy with the Sig pellet.
