Magpul bipod

I know a big majority of people nowadays thinks that 45* is absolutely necessary for shooting off a bipod. While I do think it's handy to have the option I like having pan and cant more so. Upon searching for a nice bipod with pan and cant ability that wouldn't be so expensive I came across the Magpul bipod. For $100 you get a very very good quality bipod that has a pretty good amount of pan and cant and is quite lightweight and a compact size. Surprised more people don't seem to use them. I'm going to be installing it on my EVOL Tac.

I have to admit 95% of my shooting isn't off a bench. Most is prone or out of my pickup or standing and shooting off our calf hutches which are about 4 feet tall. I've found the 45* bipods too short for me to use on most those situations so always used the 90* setting.

I echo this statement. While having a bipod with the ability to adjust to 45°, I find that I set the legs to 90° in a lot of hunting situations to get off quick shots in awkward shooting positions besides prone and off a bench. Having the option of 45° while nice and looks good, it's not all that much necessary. Besides mounting it on an airgun, if you mount it on a firearm with a 20 or 30 round magazine, you'll most likely have it set to 90° to clear the mag.

Bipods I have experience with: Harris, Accu-Tac BR-4 G2 and Accu-Shot Atlas BT46-LW17 PSR. I like both my Atlas and Accu-Tac and wouldn't trade one over the other.

In my last visit to the dairy. I made kill shots with my Accu Tac BR-4 G2 using all three leg setting. My previous bipods don’t compare. The versatility of picking the leg position that suits the situation is key. Being able to use the legs in non parallel positions also key. Don’t miss, or used panning in the field. After mulling it over for a long time. I decided my PCPs were worthy of a great bipod... no regrets.

Lol well the smell to me is home. I've lived on a dairy since birth and I'm 27 now. Also I don't prone with a bipod on the dairy. I shoot off our calf hutches like this or out the back of my truck prone. Or also out the door of my truck and putting the bipod legs on the arm rest.

I'm just wondering how you guys use a gun mounted bipod at a dairy. The ones I have shot at a prone position would not be a pleasant exper. The smell is bad enough laying in it well lets say would be a new experience.

No prone shots for me at the dairy... I don’t mind the smell, the flies can be a pain in the butt.

Well that's the beauty of a good quality quick detach bipod. I don't have access to a dairy but shooting in different positions or bracing against a post or tree is the same thing.
