LW Barrel on impact

Alright so I was goin to sell my impact to get a rifle with a different barrel to shoot slugs.
Well now I decided to keep the gun and machine a LW barrel for it.
My question is has anyone ever done this before?
And for slugs do I need a choked or non choked?
I took of the brass fitting on one of my .25 fx barrels and it's just threaded on so it'll be really easy to machine a barrel blank to fit.
I think it would pretty sweetsweet to have an impact shooting NSA slugs

YES I KNOW FX IIS MAKING STX FOR SLUGS! But I wanna try fit my barrel. I've never done it and it sounds fun

The ansewer is yes if your good enough with the lathe, you will need to single point thread a meteric thread for the brass barrel suport. Next I would not use a choked barrel for slugs. Make sure you dial in the 4 jaw chuck and the spider on the back of you spindle you dont want the breach wobbling around when threading for the brass support. You will need to chamber the barrel for slugs which ever designed slugs you use. Cast needs sizing, swaged is more acurate, You can also buy slugs from makers. Green mountain makes barrels also. That is what I shoot on my Armada. It is easy to single load slugs which don’t fit usually in regular mags. This is why I’m looking for a used Impact at less than a premium price.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

sounds like you might have a little machining knowledge. I'm not a machinist by any mean but I do like to mess around at work when I have the chance. I do know how to use the lathe pretty well but haven't learned how to turn threads yet😑 good thing I work with people whohave home machine shops that let me come over and use there machines so I'm sure I can get one to show me the threading process. Now I assume when I turn down and tread thread the barrel to fit the brass fitting I have to indicate from the bore?
I'm thinking if I got with a LW barrel tthey areabout the same length so I can just put the shroud on it pretty easy.
I haven't looked into other barrels so I'm not sure what the good slug barrels are.

Maybe I can just talk the cnc lathe guy to make it up for during lunch! Problay not..

I have a LW poly barrel on my Impact. It’s set up to shoot the King Heavies and its awesome.
The reason you don’t see it done more is you have to turn down half the barrel from 16mm to 14mm to have it fit the Impact.
I had a very good gunsmith do it for me. There is also another .5mm step down needed in the barrel just before the brass section.
It’s quite a bit of work.

well I did see they offer different sized barrels on the website so maybe they one that can fit right in.
And what .5mm step are you talking about?
You say it's alot of work but from what you got is the work worth it?

BeemanR7 as of right now I have no idea what barrel length and twist I'm goin to get. I am goin to stay with the .25 for now though. If it works out I'm gonna do a .22 also I think

This step. Outside diameter of the o-rings is 14mm. The brass section and end of the barrel are 13.5mm.
I did it because I wanted to optimise the performance of the King Heavies and this is the best barrel available to do that.
No regrets at all. Very accurate and at 890fps.
If you can find a LW barrel that it 14mm that would make the job a lot easier but not sure they have one. CZ do have a 14mm.
If you want custom twist rates the minimum order from LW is 10 barrels. The smooth-x is probably a better option for slugs and there should be more info on that very soon.
