Lube or no lube on pellets

Just a quick question. Some of the pellets I've purchased are dirty. Every time I grab some my hand gets full of lead dust so I washed and dried them . The pellets now have no dust but I'm curious if I should live them and with what. Normally I just shoot straight from the tin. Any help would be appreciated.

The black dust is probly graphite or some other lube used in the forming process. Lubing with silicone oil is good and will help keep the barrel from needing to be cleaned as often but it is not a requirement. From what I have read some barrels like lube others not so much.

A few weeks ago my son and I had six lubes on his tailgate. It seems the lube increased speed, seemed increased accuracy and seemed kept the barrels cleaner. Very small scale test with four popular pellets. WD 40 silicone was the best.

I'm test it out tomorrow. I will do some with lube and no lube shots and chrony test. Let's see how it goes. I have wd40 and silicone tond9 the test with.

That is WD 40 silicone not WD40.

It’s not dust. It’s an anti oxidation product. Leave some out to expose them to the air and over a period of time you will see the color start to change.

Will WD-40 Silicone hurt any O rings?

Shot some pellets straight from the tin. These are the jsb hades. I lubes some up and will test them tomorrow. Btw these are the first 10 shots with my new lelya. No brake in period or anything. I'm sure the spread will get better as I use it more.

So just tested the lubed pellets. It actually made the speeds more constant . Unfortunately the fx chrony app on android is still buggy. It did not save my last string. Oh well I'm just gonna have to repeat it.
