Lowering the power of an Edgun Matador .22 R3M

I purchased a .22 R3M to hold me over while I was waiting for my Bobcat .25 to ship. I've got it shooting laser accurate at 814 fps (26.48 fpe) but i'm finding that it is pretty loud and has a pretty violent kick (when shooting off the bipod on my bench). On top of that it is way too powerful for my backyard shooting which is about 22-24 yards. I've shot a few sparrows and they've split open in the back at the exit. I've taken out a few very large Opposum with single headshots no problem.

Since I have my Bobcat .25 with the power to handle the larger stuff like Opposum on high power and on low power still pushing 24fps, I was thinking about tuning the Edgun down to about 18-20 fpe. Maybe even down to 16. After watching video's of the UK guys shooting 12ft/lb rifles that barely make any noise and nearly no recoil, i'd like something like that but with slightly more power.

So, before I make any changes to a perfectly shooting gun that I spent a lot of time on the chrono to settle on the current power level, I wanted to see if anyone else has done this and if it will in fact at least take away the kick. Or if the rifle will even be laser accurate anymore at that lower power. The other option would be to sell it and buy a Bobcat .22 MK2 since the power is adjustable. Thanks!
