Lower cost sunshade that also fits Athlon Argos/Helos 6-24x50

In my comparisons of some 6-24x50 FFP scopes I ran across something that might interest owners of the 6-24x50 Athlon Argos and Helos scopes.

The Argos and Helos do not come with sunshades. The factory sunshade is about $30. I found another that fits and can be had for $21 at this time.

Long story. I compared several 6-24x50 MOA/MOA FFP scopes. I used a Monstrum 6-24x50 for the last year and liked it well enough, especially the FFP MOA reticle. But I wanted to try something with better glass. So I compared three scopes with similar features. The Athlon Argos was the first that I checked out, but I did not like the moa reticle that they used on it. The Helos reticle was better but I did not know if it was worth the extra cost. So, first tried another scope sold by ACME Machine. It had a better moa reticle than the Argos, but not as good as the Helos. I ended up with the Helos but could not help but notice that the scope bodies and glass of the Athlon Helos and ACME looked like they came from the same source in China, so when I wanted to get a sunshade for my Helos, I decided to gamble and order the ACME sunshade which was on sale at the time for $15. It threads in nicely and fits great on my Athlon Helos.

If you are considering the Athlon Argos you should also look at the ACME scopes as well. Same glass, same warranty and the feature set and cost is in between the Argos and Helos.

Note: When I got my ACME scope and sunshade earlier this year, they were on sale for $300 and $15. Currently , they are $420 and $21. So if you are interested in their scopes, look out for their occasional sale prices.
