Love my FX Chrono ........ BUT

I really like the compactness and accuracy of my FX Chrono. Compared it to a Caldwell and Pro Chrono and it’s dead on with the other two. I mount mine on the end of the barrel, using the handy and quick rubber band mounting method. I made the mistake of zeroing my rifle(s) with the Chrono mounted to the barrel and that was a mistake after the Chrono was removed my POI changed on every rifle. I even trusted the groupings while it was mounted only to scratch my head when the groups opened up with it off the barrel. Some pellets wouldn't shoot worth a hoot with it mounted and it was only by accident that I tried those same pellets without the Chrono only to discover they were VERY accurate.

Here are some examples of what I am talking about:

I see a very similar POI change as you, Igolf, but the groups remain tight. Don't get the wider spreads that you are seeing. The chrony has a tripod mount on the metal plate that was replaced by the plastic barrel mount. Swap them out and get a small flexible tripod as used with the GoPro cameras. Easy to place under the barrel on a bench and causes no deviation in barrel flex, etc.

Hey Blackpaw, I just looked through my purchase history and can’t find it. My wife thought it might have purchased it under her account but won’t let me look at her purchase history because she’s been buying presents. Just go on Amazon or online anywhere and do a search for tabletop tripods. They range from $4 to $20+ I like the ones that are spring loaded because you can just pull it up and put the radar in there. You can see in the pictures, I added a wire over the top to keep it from falling out and taped chop stick to the legs to make them longer...Not my best work but it’s utilitarian and does a great job. I just bought this one the other day(picture below) for taking pictures with my phone and think it might be better. It was $16 but it also came with a shutter release for my phone. Can probably buy it alone for $8. It seems sturdy, is a bit taller and the legs are more adjustable. There are literally, thousands of them on amazon, you should be able to find exactly what you’re looking for pretty easily.

How’s the weather over on your side of the pond? COOOOLLD!!! We just got out first rain yesterday. Looks like a another drought year in Cali. Always something...Fires, droughts, brown outs, or Gavin Newsome! LOL I hope you and your family are doing well. Have a great holiday season.

I was an early adopter of the FX chrono. At that time they did not come with a barrel mount, but a tripod plate mount (with some metal parts). I got variable results. Not so much with FPS, but with ability to obtain a reading. Most probably due to slight movements when changed my targets. Contacted FX and they agreed to send me the barrel mount conversion kit if I paid the postage. So maybe you want to see if they will do the same if you want the full fledged tripod mount (unless they also include that with V2 of the FX chrony).

When I got the barrel mount version when Utah Airguns website showed the tripod mount, I called and asked if I could return it. The guy I talked to (Josiah?,Jonah) told me there was nothing wrong with it and I would have to pay 15% to return it. Way to treat a good customer.
