Loose female foster fitting

I sprung a leak in a fill hose that is made of unobtainium(weird ball flare threaded nut connector). In my parts box I found unuf pieces to convert the weird connector to male/female foster. The two new brass female Foster connectors are lose and leak past the 0-ring. The two stainless steel male foster connectors snap in nice and snug.....but they are tapered pipe thead instead of parallel thread and won't work. Are there two different sizes of foster connectors? The culprit is the brass connectors and not the male connector :(

The QC standards are not the same on some fittings and I ran into the same problem with a brass foster (the one that came with my yong heng-ish compressor). I swapped mine to steel fittings so there would be no worry of failure. I have been told that most likely the brass foster fittings (the ones that you see from china) are only rated for paintball/co2 pressures but not sure? Either way I didn't want to take the chance!

There are three common standards that you are likely to get confused. 1/8 BSPP, 1/8 NPT and the metric M10x1. Most but not all European scuba and air gun stuff use BSPP. Most but not all American and paintball stuff use NPT. Most Chinese stuff like compressors and filters use metric threads. A lot of paint ball stuff is only rated for as little as 1500 PSI. Most of the lower rated stuff is made from nickle plated brass. The thick brass couplings that come with the Chinese stuff are claimed to be rated at up to 8000 PSI. I would take that with a grain of salt but I have no problem with using them at 4500 PSI. Then you have variations in all the different brands having slightly different dimensions in the couplings and O rings. It is not rocket science but the average Joe can become overwhelmed by it all. I hope that I didn't confuse you any more than before.

Here is that goofy ball type connector that leaks at the crimp. It came with the air drier I modified with a desiccant trap. The loose brass foster connectors are to do with the male connectors I used in the set up. They came from my paintball days of years ago. From my career with pneumatics and hydraulics,I have a half gallon of left over 0-rings from tiny to huge. I found a fat one that I worked into the female foster to get it to seal. It will work while I wait for the new proper hoses and connectors arrive :) :)
