looking to buy a bullpup but which one?

"keysersoze"Ok a rod you wanted a mor complete answer ill give you one.

First off posting video in order to quantify decibels is worthless

Don't believe me ? Listen how mouse fart quiet these 12 gauge shotguns sound. You don't even need hearing protection...

Um....really? Did you just post a video to show that the sound isn't as loud as it would be in person??? I'm trying not to insult you but even a child understands that if you watch a firework explode in person or a cannon go off in person it's much louder in person. And there is NO correlation to hearing it on a video. Did you really just.....nevermind.

Maybe you missed it but I put my iPhone in there with a dB meter showing. One that's free so everyone can download it and play around with it and make their own judgements about it. And I said it's far from perfect. I'll add this.....on my iPhone my compass works pretty well. it's not perfect but surprises me how well it works. The camera works pretty well on there too (in fact it's better than my 10 year old camera). I have a heart rate monitor that I use with my iPhone and it works pretty good too. I use Strava app to map my distance when I run or ride a bike. It's not perfect but it works pretty well too. Long story short, my friend, I'm going to say throw out there that my iPhone does tons of stuff that just 10 years ago I never would have imagined a phone doing. And none of it is perfect but I'll throw a number out there....and it's just my opinion....I'm going to say that most everything on my iPhone works about 90% as good as a dedicated instrument. That's just my opinion. And I know absolutely 100% NOTHING about decibel measurement instruments. I know very little about sound other than Taylor Swift's sound has improved with her most recent album. (I own TWO full size American trucks so I have enough testosterone in me to be comfortable in my heterosexual manhood while listening to T Swift). anyway, I'm going to say that the free app to measure sound is about 90% as good as a real sound measuring instrument. I have no basis to make that claim! ;) Just what I suspect, an opinion.

Now finally, regarding sound and this gun. I've never shot a Vulcan but based on your measurement of it's sound and reading and talking to others about it, I believe it's sound to be quite loud, over 100dB. And my experience with the Wildcat .25 I believe it would be a minimum of 20dB quieter than the Vulcan (probably more like 30dB quieter). Again, never seen one in person, just what I suspect to be true.

It's become clear to me that you don't like FX. Someone should write a book on the psychology of people online and recommending products. The whole "fanboy" stuff is dumb and gets really old. btw, my next airgun purchase will likely be a Vulcan. I like that gun a ton and how they are innovative in putting the bolt on the left side, and changeable to the right side, definitely impresses me. I love the stock too.

"scotty"Arod, nice video........So while not a perfect test it is a great example.

THANK YOU! I'm glad someone appreciates that.

I may do it again tonight when I'm shooting with my friend that has a Marauder .....but it can be really frustrating when someone just wants to bring you down when you're just trying to help out. Just want to tell those haters to go buy your wife some flowers, slap her on the ass a little and maybe you'll find a little more fun in your life and not be such a grumpy ass. That's what I do anyway ;)

To the original question I'd say the Cricket is a tried and proven platform.
The Wildcat may well be a game changer as to dollar vs. performance.
Personally I'd like to see a little time on it and thoughts of owners then.
Edguns lack "standardization" to my mind. Parts availability comes and goes. Different O-rings for same applications that Ed can't even give you the correct answer.
The Vulcan sounds enticing but still kinda new.
Think I am going to jump on the Impact even though unproven. User outside adjustable reg., power levels, and hammer spring offer much.
These are awesome days to be a air gunner.

GundogWhere can you buy or get prices on a Vulcan I would like to do my own comparison but can't seem to find it online? I also can't find a Taipa (spelling?) You can send me a PM with the info since they are not sponsors.

Thanks Mike

Better to just go read the vulcan section and other bullpups section on http://talonairgun.com/forum/

All the info u want is there

LeaddyYou guys banned keyser for saying he liked the Vulcan quality better than the FX offerings.

He's one of the few guys that has done a full review of most of the new pups. He's not on anybody's payroll. The guys just giving his opinion.

Can we not have a civil disagreement on this forum?

That is not why he was banned. We have plenty of documentation to support our decision. If I recall correctly, you too had some very unkind things to say about Ted, myself, & AGN on your home... the Talon forum. Tread lightly

I will show you your gun is not that quiet, i am not saying it is not a good gun, but you are pushing BS info. The app you are using is made for constant noise. I have given you an app that does peak values and is a great app for sound but you refuse to download it. So here I am challenging you to prove me wrong. Download db meter pro and do your test again. If you won't then everyone can take it as you know I am right. Here is a video I did inside of a room in my house comparing both apps and my Cricket .25.

This Question is for Ted, I know you have both wildcats, do you feel that either of your WC's are in the 60-70 db range? Are they 2/3 as loud as your bobcat or edgun?

I agree in transparency - even when it is uncomfortable. So, here you go. I have never said one negative word about KZ or his ilk on any forum. I have known from the beginning that they mocked me and my efforts on the talonforum. And, then those same guys come to my forum and play their tongue-in-cheek games; seeing how close they can walk the line of insulting me. These guys spent months slamming my credibility on other forums....Then, for some inexplicable reason, they come to my forum.....and I let them stay because I wanted to prove that people can change. But, they didn't.
.
No more on this, please. If you think we are liars or unfair, I would ask that you walk a mile in our shoes. If, after that, your opinion still has not changed, please just leave.

This is my first airgun forum I have participated in. I've enjoyed the helpful aspects of the forum and the in-depth reviews. Most members seem genuinely interested in helping their fellow airgunners. Many members have a wealth of knowledge they can share. I do not like discord between members or between members and the moderators. I cringe when such discord arises. i suppose misunderstandings and untactful words during passionate discussions are a part of human nature. Each side of these discussions generally have valid points to make. I just wish we could discuss topics without losing experienced and passionate members. I am going to miss keysersoze's reviews and contributions to this forum.

BTW I have a .25 FX Wildcat and will report my experiences after I have put it through its paces.

Ted, I agree with you on the transparency aspect, I am not part of any group if you were referring to me in any of this, I fully respect you and your abilities. I strive to be as good with an air rifle as you, and you were/are a huge part of me being in this sport. I have watched all of your videos probably more times than I have fingers. Your videos are a video library and a huge asset to the AG community. I am a member on 3 of the AG forums, and don't get involved in the business politics side of any of it. I try to post to help others and also when I need help.
I do think KZ is a wealth of knowledge, and sorry to see him banned but again I try to stay clear of the politics, as I am here as a member of the AG community.

Now back to the topic at hand, I was just trying to convey a message to this topic as when I got my airgun I tried to get the quietest, most accurate, most durable airgun I could. I do not have the funds to go through AG after AG, so I feel a lot of other people are in my same shoes. So when someone comes on here claiming that the new hottest AG is something it is NOT being 60 db's I tried to show by comparison, of the testing instrument used, and I think I did that. Purchasing something that is thousands of dollars only to find out it isn't what you thought hurts. That is why I wanted to ask the ONE everyone here looks up to and believes. That is why I asked your opinion of the sound, because you have the best of the best.

Thanks for all your hard work in this sport, you are appreciated!

"Hardknocks"If I was a moderator on this forum that sold there soul to FX I would probably just sit around the house and smoke crack and cut myself instead of turning unsuspecting people onto buying overpriced Swedish junk that won't work and will fall apart while firing with what little income tax money they get in return every year from the govt
And, there it is. An account made just an hour ago - for one purpose. To disrupt and derail. Now, you can all see what we are dealing with. 2600:1015:b02d:c22b:946c:4ba0:ee42:c283

I don't see anything that has anything to do with helping out here.
Please delete your post Hardknocks.
Thanks

No. That app cost a whopping $2 and while I'll spend $1,500 on a gun I won't spend $2 on an app for the sake of an internet forum argument. I've spent enough time trying to help random people on the internet. It's not really like helping my neighbor so I'm done with it.

I've said numerous times the WC .25 is noticeably and obviously quieter than my FX Whisper .25 and my neighbors Marauder .25. I don't need any instrument to prove that my ears and my neighbors ears are working properly and I don't care if you believe me.

This is rediccoulouse. Why are folks so childish? As Ted stated the fail percentage is minute in the big picture. I went with a .25 Vulcan for other reasons size etc.. but to sit and attempt to rip FX apart is flat stupid. They are World class air rifles, revolutionary barrel design etc.. you do not sound very intelligent at all. Your pride is talking and it's making it worse. This forum and it's moderators etc are not blind or ass kissing in any way you simply lack integrity and manners. You can always tell the ones who never got there's growing up.. Ted and all affiliates to this forum: your doing great, I don't envy you tho ;)
