Looking For The Best Indoor Chrony

I'm pretty happy with my Fx Chrony.

• Simple to use
• Fast to setup
• Small enough to leave in the shooting bag
• Doesn't care if it's bright and sunny outside, or being used in a darker basement

Only downside I could think of, batteries don't last all that long. Then again, I use rechargeable. Who cares.

+1 For the FX Chrony. Only had mine for a month or so but it has been excellent. 


No more lighting issues, missed readings and bulky pain in the butt setup of my old Digital Pro Chrono.

Another +1 for the FX. Compact, no lighting needed and Jukka has been updating the software on a regular basis. Had a Caldwell with a rigged up lighting system that worked, but, what a PITA.

Wondering how far the pellet trap need to be away from the muzzle when using a Fx Chrony indoor to tune an airgun? 

I don't know anything about the FX chrony. I have a Caldwell G2 with an LED light kit, the chrony sensors face downward, and LED lights shine upward. I have found it to work reliably. it allows me to connect my iPad to it via bluetooth to record the shotstring data, and then send it SMS or email. You can even add pictures of the target to the shotstring data. 

I really like my Beta shooting chrony it folds up and fits in my range bag with the Harbor Freight lights which are only needed indoors. Battery lasts for many months and I use it allot. The FX chrony gobbles batteries from what I have read but if you are not constantly using it that should not matter.

Good question. Never really thought about it, as indoor my target is set at 10M so that's what I use.

• For what it's worth, when I'm switching power setting on my LG110 (going from 540 fps to 790 fps) I'll often be sitting on the back porch aiming at the ground (or snow bank) 15'-20' away.

Another nice thing about the Fx is if strap it to the barrel (a rubber band works good) it is impossible to shoot it.

• If you trying to see at which velocity your rifle shoots best (for a given pellet), you can mount it to a small tripod (or pile of books) under your rifle. Again, no risk of killing it with a stray pellet

Impossible to shoot it ++1 I have shot mine twice over the 15 or so years I have had it. Just minor cosmetic damage though so I am not a chrony killer. Yet

Fx maximum speed that is 1150Fps-350mps

Thanks biohazard man!! I really appreciate the tip about the harbor freight lights. I’ve messed around with the ideal lighting for my chrony and just find it finicky. I’m definitely going to try the two led lights sitting on top 

What batteries does the FX Chrony take? I'm tired of using my Competition Electronics Pro Chrony. I work crazy hours so lighting conditions aren't always favorable when I want to do a quick check if my airgun is in spec.
