I am looking for a heavier hammer spring to see if I can chase down the 82ft/lbs that Fx was claiming on the website. Has anyone bothered to try? If so what size, ect...?
what speed was the heavies going before ? Was the reg maxed and hammer spring ?"AirSupply"Hi Ben. I wasn't able to get the .25 JSB Heavies up to speed in my Impact. I ordered another hammer spring but it was going to take months to arrive in Oz. So I added 1.5 grams to the hammer. That was about a year ago and my gun has shot well and to spec since.
It wasn't difficult. The inside diameter of the hammer is 10mm. I cut about 3mm of 10mm O/D stainless steel rod drilled a hole for the valve rod to pass through the centre then ground it down to the weight I wanted.
It was a good tight fit to push in and I epoxied it as well. It hasn't budged after 1000's of shots.
If you didn't want to make it I'm sure Ernst would make it up for you. He may well have some other advice that may help.

AirSupplyWhat I found was if I preloaded the hammer spring with the adjustment beside the power wheel I could get more velocity (It is not meant to be preloaded just no slack). So I knew the problem was either the spring or the hammer. My hammer weighed from memory 19.1 grams. I think even 1 gram extra would have got the velocity to standard 850-860fps.
I was struggling to get to 800fps before I added the weight.I tried for many days with many different reg pressures and spring settings. I have now got the new spring but haven't bothered to fit it. It may have also solved the issue.
Spring is 56mm long 10mm diameter 1.4mm wire.
