Hi guys, I'm new here. I was looking for a quiet pellet gun,I'm sure it gets asked a lot but I couldn't find anything that fit my criteria.I was looking for a .22 in spring or piston in the $300-350 range that was quiet. I would be using it to take care of pests, perhaps a raccoon, or even a turkey that keeps attacking my car.. I was checking on the site and didn't find much. this post was the closest I was looking for. I need quiet but something that can take down game/pests. I've tried the Gamo raptor whisper but this was a bit loud for me. any recommendations for something quieter would be greatly appreciated.

A used Benjamin Marauder in either 22 or 25 might be your best bet. I have the factory 25 ca. Marauder and it makes a very light report when fired - although it could not be classified as silent.

Your going to find most here are going to recommend a PCP because of your requirements. In that price range, you can purchase a PCP which will be more quiet, accurate and powerful than an equally priced break barrel.

The Trail doesn't make much noise at all. My neighbors don't even know if I shoot it unless I am using a metal plate target, and then the pellet makes more noise hitting it thatn the gun does. Trigger sucks but there are aftermarket parts to fix that.

the only thing i didn't like about the pcp is having to pump it with air. A drunk driver drove through my house and hit me , I've since had multiple shoulder surgeries so that would be an issue.

My neighbor has a umarex gauntlet .22 and that is more than quiet enough, I just struggle with the pump.

The Maximus is unusual. Instead of pumping it up to 3000 PSI (or more), it only pumps up to 2000 PSI. This was a major consideration for me, as I had back surgery.

how many pumps do the Nova freedom and the Maximus take to pump. I should mention that I've had 13 on the left shoulder, 3 on the right, and they recently just removed a piece of the guys mirror from my right elbow. I used to have a Sheridan .20 pump, I got it in 1980 as a gift, but sadly it was destroyed.

Since you asked for a springer.... I would say get a RWS 34 in 22 caliber. It is VERY accurate. Easy to cock. Shoots almost all pellets great. Light. And it is not loud. And for your price range you could get a scope too. I love mine and have had it for 15 years without an issue. I love my pcp rifles but you really have to want one because it gets expensive and you also will not like pumping it with a hand pump. Trust me. (especially if you have a medical issue) Even if you get super interested in airguns after you buy the RWS 34 and go airgun crazy and buy a PCP you will still have a awesome springer rifle that will last a lifetime. You can hear a 34 being fired a couple of houses away, inside the house. Nice rifle, but no way it is quiet.

Thanks guys. I'm borrowing my neighbors pcp to try it before I buy it. I think whatever I get needs to have iron sights because I'm shooting with in 10-15 yards mainly
