looking for a .22 air rifle in the $250.00 to $300.00 dollar range.

New here, and I'm looking for a .22 rifle in the 250-300 dollar range. I'll be using it for hunting because of how .22 long rifle ammo is sometimes hard to get and is more expensive than pellets. I'm not sure about pcp vs. break vs. pump, so any opinions will be helpful. I do know I would like iron sights and the option to mount a scope. I saw there was a simular question asked in 2016, but I thought there might have been improvements in five years.

Lota people love their gamos. If you go that route just make sure to get a grt trigger. Well worth it.

Personally, I'd get a M11 mk2 and a cheap $40 hand pump.

For a spring piston rifle, I'd get a hw50s in .177

Both would break your budget, though.

Lr700w would be a good multi-pump option within budget.

Ultimately you need to decide what power plant you want then pick a rifle from there.

In the $300 range take a look at Dar Airguns.

No Gamo's myself but I have a relative that has a couple that shoot good. As noted, Gamo/Stoeger might fit the OP's needs.

Me I steer clear of the Chinese guns, way to many problems. Seems a good portion of them need to be gone through before they can even be shot or shortly after.

You can get a decent German built Diana breakbarrel for near that kind of money.

Or the time proven multi-pump Benjamin

Or a PCP but don't forget the pump or compressor cost here as one will be needed.

The Benjamin Maximus is a less expensive single shot but not in stock anywhere it seems.

A couple guns in the classifieds section that you may be interested in. Remember Spring guns are, for the most part, good for 50-75 yards max. PCPs can do much better depending on the gun.

Didn't mention what you'll be hunting? Rats? Hogs? Elephant? I found a used Crosman 392. Been very happy with mine, older model wood stock, shoots 1-¾ groups at 20yrds iron sights. Most comments about new synthetic models, you almost have to put scope because irons sit too low for good sight picture. There's scope mounts avaliable.

I figure depends upon your wants.

I like about everything "Diana" so far. I didn't care much for the R9, but love the D350mag.

In my experience, it's all about personal preferences, like "how's the trigger?" or "are parts hard to replace" than the specific gun itself.

I've not had a break-barrel that couldn't do sub-1" shots at 25Y. Anything other than accuracy is a bias.

Another vote for the 34 here -

Great guns for the money, lots of aftermarket tune kits & parts, even custom stocks!

I have two, both are of the TO5 trigger/Panther version, one in .22, one in .177

Purchased both of them used, off the forums.

Buying a used but tuned AND BROKEN IN specimen from a reputable forum member is a good way to go, versus a new gun, as these puppies require BEACOUP rounds to break in and cock/shoot to there potential.
