Looking at an LPVO

I’d like to get my Leshiy 2 set up so that I have two configurations. The first is complete with a 3x prism sight on a QD mount and 350mm barrel. The second I have a 500mm barrel but I’m in need of an optic with a bit more magnification. The Vortex 1-8x24 is really tempting as it comes in an FFP version which I prefer but the 100 yard fixed parallax is making me hold off. I do really like a fixed 10x scope but I just can’t seem to find one in stock anywhere. Any other suggestions for a lightweight optic with minimum 8x magnification and capable of having a 25 yard parallax. I know there’s the other 10x prism sights out there but I really don’t like the extremely short eye relief.

One of these "compact" but not LPVO scopes might werq for you?

The Hawke Vantage 2x7x32 is probly the best $100-150 scope you will find out there and has that wonderful reticle as well.

The Vector Optics Veyron and Discovery VT-3 scopes are both compact and lighter weight scopes in 3x12x44 with 30mm tubes. They are both decent for the money around $200 and both Mil/Mil scopes so none of that funky Hawke Mil/MOA stuff going on. So there is some give and take between the two and I like them both for what they are.

If you are going for an FFP the Veyron has a pretty thin reticle and it can get lost in a dark background at lower magnification. But it does focus down to 7 yards at full 12 power so that is not often a problem although your FOV will suffer. It weighs in at 17.6oz and has a nice Mil Hash reticle. It is available in a 2nd focal plane scope as well.

The Discovery will just barely focus to 10 yards if you turn the power down to 6 but it has a thicker reticle that is easier to pick up at lower magnification so it is not a problem either. It weighs in at 18.3oz and has a nice Mil Quad reticle. These are also available in 1st or 2nd focal plane.

The last compact scope I found is this USO TS-12X unit. It is a bit more expensive than the other compact scopes and the quality shows. It has better lenses, better turrets and a flawless finish. Once again it is an FFP scope so the turrets do get a bit thin under 6 power. Shop around for a better price I picked mine up, in the milhash flavor, for under $400. Put it in your cart to check for best price.

This one is a triplex and SFP but at at about half price if you can live with the reticle.

How much you wanna spend?!!!

You could go all in ($2500) and get a 1-10x FFP uber badass scope with parallax down to 10y https://www.edgunwest.com/store/optics/march-optics/item/march-scopes-1-10x24mm-tactical-turret/

I wish I could afford the March but I would have to work 7 days a week for the next two months to be able to afford that. The other options are pretty good. Burris is off the buy list, I just got one back from warranty after waiting close to a year. No thanks . I already have a Hawke 2x7 , it’s an OK scope but it’s SFP. If I could find something similar in an FFP for the same money I’d be all over it. I’ve decided against the Vortex , parallax at 100 will not work and I really don’t want to mess with the lense. The Vector is looking real good , low weight , great reticle and decent turrets. Remember I’m in Canada so it’s impossible to get anything from the US , thanks to ITAR.

Don't know if the Athlon Helos BTR Gen2 2-12×42 fits your budget (Around $500) but it's worth taking a look at. It's not exactly a LPVO but more of a MPVO. This optic shines in the 2×-8× power range for fast work but has 12x when you really need it although the center floating dot is large for tiny targets but is doable. I like the AHMR2 Mil illuminated reticle on it. Works well for FFP and focuses down to 10 yards.

Krale has the Optisan CP 10x32 SFP MIL for a fixie if that is your preference. Also in stock are the CP 3-12x32s. Sized at 9.5" and 17oz, it's got a whole lot of scope in that short 30mm tube. Been very pleased with mine. Have been on the fence about getting another Optisan CP or another USO TS-12, both are compact scopes, but the CP is springer-rated, so versatile as well. Neither of these scope have IR, which is why I am taking my time deciding.

Well I got a new scope ordered. Not even sure if it will work but from the reviews I think it might be just the ticket . A Bushnell 6500 1.25-8x32 made in Japan which leads me to believe this is going to be better than decent. I bought it from the used market and should get here just in time to put it under the tree as a gift to myself. Hahahaha this will be the second scope I get without mil dots , just a simple cross hair and the only SFP scope I own after going the FFP route years ago. This scope is said to have a 5-6” eye relief which is also a plus on the Leshiy as it will allow me to fold it up without the scope going past the action. Looking forward to this one. Thanks for all the suggestions.
