Long range shots are just silly....Nope!

I have underestimated the .25 Huben. Took a pot shot at the Cottonwood tree , 230 yards away with the .25 Huben. Aimed 5 foot high and heard it hit the bark. ..no way! Shot at the dirt at the base and it was only a couple feet low and a couple feet windage...and thought,I better set a target. Watching the dirt hits in the fresh stirred field, walked it up and hit the the stake and the bucket lid inside of 12 shots! Held 20 over with the Aztec scope at 5.5 power, shouldered off a shot bag full of sand. Not the best setup for precision....never mind the very brisk cross wind. Can't wait to see what slugs will do when the mould gets here and no wind. I'm betting consistent hits.
BTW,I've shot long range IHMSA open sight pistols for over 20 years and sorta know what I am doing :) :)

Great shooting but I’m not keen on Huben just yet as I believe this is Beta testing time. Many small problems. If I spend over $800 (HW/AA quality ) I want no issues. Huben way cool but not perfected & too hard for guys to mod. It’s sealed like new transmissions. They want them serviced by dealer. Not unless I need machine shop. You should be able to clean barrel. Geez.

I’m not surprised you hit your POA, as I’ve been going as far as 300 yards in plowed dirt fields when dry for 10 years. I even can hit a soda can at 130 yards with an old R1 .22. I have to shoot on low magnification & use the bottom reticle directly in 1/2 as aiming point. Duplex reticle, oh well.

Most guys have to go to range. I have 500 yards of field in front yard so plinking just to read wind & try for freshly tilled up stones is fun. The pellets don’t even have enough power left to give visual reports unless ground is dry. Then watch which way dirt blows & correct hold. A mute point for hunters but for targets great fun. Yeah, I’m talking a 150 yard zero & 33’.60” of hold over with JSB 18.1 at 860 fps. 3 ftlbs but it’ll teach you wind doping like nothing else will.

You get that .223 mold & you’ll have no problem at all keeping them in a 10-12” lid. I will be VERY impressed if it shoots 2 moa or better at 230 yards. Good luck Sir & great shooting. It can be done!

34.95 JSB BC 0.0465 @ 900 FPS w/ 100 yard zero= 23.52 feet of holdover. Still 12.3 ft lbs so no joke either way. I’ve JUST begun real slug testing

.25 Huben and the dirty birds:
A sparrow and starling walk into a bar..........
Planning on a raid at purple martin house.
Huben said hello and goodbye.
Clint would say...."take your head clean off" :)
Cats and possums clean up overnight :) :)

Took a a half a dozen more shots at the 230 yard bucket lid. The sound of the hits are addictive. One hit and one skid off the top edge :) Pretty sure the JSB's group a 20" circle at that distance and stock tune. Need more play/test/settings time before the field turns green :( I have another spot that is a little over 400 yards...may need a bigger bucket lid if I try that distance. Not sure if the no limit mounts will give me what I need at 400 yards...but should be way better than non adjustable mounts.

mtnGhost.....JSB's King heavy,33.95 gr. The rifle has functioned absolutely flawlessly so far. I was leery of where it was made too....but it seems to be well engineered. I questioned the skinny barrel also, but I wanted a .25...already have a 22 semi auto (Revolution) that runs great...just doesn't have the punch or adjustments of the Huben .25. Flip or flop, it has quickly become my go to gun for pests...over the .30 impact and .25 Wildcat.
