Long bomb on a troublemaker.

About an hour ago, the neighbor lady called and said that SOB is down by the creek. This is smart crow and has been causing mischief down at her house. For the last week I just wouldn’t take a poke at him because the wind was really unpredictable. Today he was at 145yrds and in line with my wind flag. When I had a steady 4mph crosswind I held 1 mil left and nailed it. I have been focusing for months on first shot accuracy and predictability out of this gun and really only tested out to 114yrds. Maybe I just got lucky.

I kinda hated to shoot it because I found what he was doing down at her house kinda funny and I liked hearing the stories. Oh well, he had a good run. In the first pic I zoomed in to max and circled his little carcass. My wind flag is on that post beside that target so I could watch it as I aimed with both eyes open. Things were not in his favor.

Thanks guys but we know how airgunning is, I will probably blow my next 5 shots down by the creek and I won’t start any glory topics about those. We will see. I was just happy the gun did what it was supposed to do and what I have been working up to. I decided to go with the zero mods and conservative tune for a stress free gun approach with this gun. I’m shooting 935fps at 117b. The gun seems relaxed and it shows when my crosshairs don’t move when the trigger breaks.

Incredible shot! And what did you find funny that he was doing at her house?

The last thing it did was take her garden gloves and put them on the roof of the garage. This crow was a character but she doesn’t have pets so she’s not used to some animals antics. I better quit talking about it because I kinda feel bad for whacking this thing. She has a .22lr but she said it knew when she started acting sneaky and would fly off. Long bombing from my dining room window was the only option on this bird.

Unfortunately I couldn’t hear it hit him. I was shooting off my dining room table and because my dining room window was wide open my heat kicked on shortly before I fired. The whole aiming and timing the wind process took quite a few minutes. I had a red squirrel in that tree down by the creek at 120yrds that took me over a week to get him. The stars have to line up for me to squeeze the trigger on a bomber with an air rifle. It’s not like there is a once in a lifetime trophy class animal down there. I try to keep my kill vs miss ratio on the positive side when I send it long. I would rather not shoot at all if something doesn’t feel right. I feel this habit pays dividends when I am hunting game animals with a high powered rifle.

That was a GREAT shot! I usually don't mind the crows, but sometimes they cross the line. I had one repeatedly crapping on my truck. I finally had to make that stop. The others crows must have taken the hint that I wasn't going to stand for that any longer as I haven't had much crap on the truck since!

Again, very nice long range shot. Thats a good looking shooter there!
