Lgv phenomena

I have been using H&N Baracuda Greens 9.65 22 cal in my Lgv for awhile now with outstanding accuracy ( totally unbiased I might add) 🤣🤣

Well today the accuracy started to fall and I was nearly going to adjust the scope when I recalled a couple of hundred pellets ago the same phenomena occurred. Back then I changed back to lead FTT’s and it wasn’t until the next day I put through a few Greens that the green accuracy had returned. So I fired 5 FTT’s and then went back to the greens. The Lgv was back to its old reliable very accurate self and 30 pellets later still spitting them Greens in a jagged hole.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this phenomena?

I personally wish to try more GTO and copper coated type. Bright tin type Ive only used in low speed wadcutter 10m.

I do have an LGV and many other spring guns. I’ve definitely seen a switch change things, and at times set it right again.

I believe different head sizes, materials, microscopic build up in barrel and possibly at choke mostly or a bit. A different pellet may act like a cleaning or a lubricant. In your case I’d think a few lead pellets did just that. Barrel is now lubed instead of galled but I’d personally give it a good cleaning with Hoppes#9 and nylon or tornado brush. I think you’ll be surprised how many dirty patches you go through to get white again. Then without adjusting scope start trying your most accurate pellets. They may NOT work if barrel isn’t leaded up first.

Good luck. Just my thoughts.

JamesD I believe you are on the right track. A while ago when I was exclusively shooting the leaded Ftt!s in my Lgv I had an accuracy issue. I tried cleaning the barrel and was amazed how many shots it took before the accuracy returned.

I shoot H&N Green 12.65 in my 22 cal Hw77 and have not had this phenomena occur. These green pellets in my Lgv and Hw77 are way ahead in accuracy compaired to lead. Today I might run some lead through the Hw77 and then shoot the greens and see if there is an effect.

Uglymike save some pennies and give the greens a go, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
