Lever-action air-rifle for n00b. Rugged & reliable

It seems there are few "Winchester" lever-action looking air-guns around.

How do most of these "work" ? Is it CO2 or can such a short movement actually load a spring?
How do the magazines work in them? Are they all internal or do some have removable magazines?

I'm mainly looking one that has quite heavy-duty internals OR overly simplistic ones that can be easily made from better materials. I have access to a metal-shop and even 3D metal printing. Small parts arent that hugely expensive and i could model them myself.

Last but not least, i'm planning to "convert" the gun into 6mm airsoft BBs as all airsoft lever-action guns are cheapo chinese junks that really dont perform well or break down due to poor materials. It will be downgraded in terms of power to our standards. Quite a few air-guns have been converted into airsoft succesfully as the overall "tech" is quite similar. Some air-gun makers also sell directly converted and power-downgraded pistols to airsofters. Kinda sad the rifle-makers havent done that yet.

Welcome,
Not sure what you want do is achievable, but there are a few quality lever action guns out there. Take a look at Walther's very realistic Winchester replica which uses Co2, and then the are the ferociously powerful Korean lever action PCP guns like the Sumatra series. These are quality guns and therefore are fairly costly. Have fun modding but make sure you're aware of the hazards of Co2 and high pressure air before you start.

I've been working with HPA systems quite a lot. Also converted couple Co2 airguns.

More noise the better ^^

The Winchester has the looks. Wish there was pics on the nozzle and how it spins the "clip" thingy. I should be able to 3D model and print 6mm clips, then just swap the barrel. Does the Winchester come in .25 or any 6mm or above? Its gonna be easier going downwards than upwards when caliber-swapping.

The Sumatra is a biiiiit over the price-range im hoping for but HPA based system is a good thing. The two reservoirs ruin the looks for me... Can you fit just one or is there a model with just one? The stock is also, wierd. That said, i could simply swap out the stock for something 3D printed.

The Winhester and the Sumatra... Are there others? Muh Google-fu is not very stronk.

The Winchester from those two seems the winning option. No doubt the bolt has a hammer-spring that can be replaced to lower the power. Bit worried can the clip be made to hold airsoft BBs...
Gonna have to poke around local airgun-groups to see if someone has one. Its a big investment. Too big to make without checking it out first.

EDIT: looks like there is a "Marlin cowboy" thats seems to spring-action and large internal mag... A contender. Also cheap. ~300'ish FPS is very nice for my needs. I'd have to downgrade even that when we use our ammo that are feather-weight in comparison.

I think i found a "winner"

Crossman "Sheridan Cowboy"

By airgun standards, i take it this is the bottom-feeder by most standards. It does seem fairly tough built tho, especially for the price!
Spring powered, thats good, for me. I can swap the spring if need be. Steel means i can weld stuff on it, mostly enlargen the cocking-handle so i can spin-cock it.

The low power comes in handy as most you dont know this, but our "heaviest" ammo weight is 0.43 gram. If it can do 300+ with 4.5mm steel, it can do LOT more with plastic 6mm AND the range of our guns doesnt come from the power alone. I wont go into details...

Considoring how cheap it is, i can invest on this and just toss it if it goes booboo, not much of a loss.
Only downsides seem to be the heavy action and gravity-fed rounds.

REQUEST: please link me videos that have this thing internally open. I wanna see what it looks like on the inside. Also, is the inner-barrel removable?

If this works out, i will most certainly come back to the Winchester and the Sumatra.
