Thanks G. With over three decades of (amateur) airgun modifying, I consider 'Ole Homegrown' my greatest airgunsmithing success. And though very purpose-specific (field target), she's VERY GOOD at her specific purpose (and bench-rest shooting).
The 187 donor rifle had quite a lot of 'patina', but shot as well as many 1940s to present-day Crosmans, and lost no accuracy after chopping and re-crowning the barrel. Having some (limited) woodworking 'skills' from traditional bow-building, but lacking stock-inletting capabilities, I cut the inletting out of the white-wood rifle stock and built a walnut pistol stock around the white-wood (inletting) block. After that went well, I refinished the heavily-patinaed metalwork with Duracoat spray finish. That was eight years ago; and despite several bumps I thought would surely damage the Duracoat finish, it's still perfect. That stuff is tough, tough, TOUGH!
