Lessons Learned

I bought a Crown barrel from a AGN member. It was shipped USPS in one of their triangular boxes. When I got it, one end had no tape on it so I opened that end. Inside was a stick wrapped in newspaper. I immediately contacted the seller. After some initial misunderstanding, we began to piece together the situation. We both went to our respective post offices to make reports. Unfortunately he did not insure it. I did use regular PayPal. In this case, the postal shipping label was missing. My post office said that was not unusual. The only way it got to me was by the hand-written address the seller taped to the box. So what are the lessons:

1. Tape up every seam or access point on the shipping container.

2. Always insure

3. Don’t skimp on PP fees

4. Take a picture of the package you delivered at the post office.

5. I always put my own address label and tape it to the container.

Scammed for sure...for many postal workers that would be another piece of pipe no need to replace it with a stick....as a seller not wanting misunderstandings always wrap my items as I want someone to wrap it for me to protect the best I can .. I never pay friend n family no matter what..to no body..unless we have done business a few times and the item is less than $60..sorry thi happen to you....the first pcp I buy here the seller sells me a donny sumo with the rifle..the rifle arrive no sumo on the package..he still sells regular here on AGN..the package was completed sealed no extra tape was added because sometimes custom opens the packages .. so he never send it .. but it was mi word against his I was new and have not seen a bad feedback on him so I live it like that .. that was like 3 years ago..

I may be crazy but I always sell items and make my buyers pay me after they get my merchandise.

They often tell me to give them my payment details when I give them the tracking number but I always insist that that can come later when they have the item.

Have not been burned so far.

No BS, gents.

I am a trusting person.

Sold an unscathed SWFA scope a month for $120(?) shipped a month or so ago with the same requirements.

I was a manager for a courier long ago so I know how to pack an item.

Some sellers do not know how to pack at all.

Also, you need to insure an item full coverage.

I bought a brand new condition German springer not so long ago but the owner packed it with the scoped unwrapped--needless to say, the stock got dented from the the scope's edge.

Sold it for the same price.

I could not fathom why in the world sellers pack them in the lousiest manner possible.

I wrap items in shirts and newspaper and don't care if it costs more.

I tried to ignore this post ...BUT!

A friend in Mississippi had this same thing happen exactly! Its pretty fishy and I would have a hard time not exposing this person that sold you a stick!!!

Even if hes really on the up and up it's the seller's responsibility to get it to you safely! Even if it was insured it's the seller who has to file the claim to get the insurance payment! So in this case it should be the seller that takes the burn not you...especially since it was so poorly packed to begin with...

Just my .02

I recently had a guy send me a loose single shot tray for a gun in a letter envelope.... by the time it got to me I received a ripped open empty envelope. The guy was either too dumb or too lazy to put it in a padded envelope. I was so shocked by his stupidity I couldn't even be mad.

Same here. This was not an Airgun part, but three small parts for a Bosch VE fuel pump I bought from a guy in Canada. He sells me a complete fuel pump, but it comes with these three parts missing. He says he’ll go to his local Cummins dealer and ship them to me.

Well, one part was a nut, another a bolt, and I believe the third part was a small metal bracket. He send this in a small mail envelope, the size that a personal check would fit in.

The envelope shows up to my mailbox, torn, with nothing in it. I call him on it and he said he sent it, so he “took care of his end of the deal”, and blames the post office for it, on my end.

Some people. What a POS

So some postal worker just happens to have a stick waiting around for the next Crown barrel they can get their hands on.

I hope you didn't give this seller an A+++ feedback post..
