Leshiy Bipod Inquiry

I got a picatinny extension from Amazon. And it works well for me.

I have a Rugged Ridge bipod. I can only completely fold my Leshiy if it's all the way back on the lower picatinny rail.

I didn't care for it that far back and also didn't like my option for storing it with both the Leshiy and the bipod folded for storage.

It came with the gun and I was torn between selling it and getting something known to work with the Leshiy versus finding some combination of adapters that would get it further forward, making it better for both storage and shooting.

I ordered a Lion Gear picatinny extension and a 1/2" UTG slim, three slot picatinny riser.

With the Lion Gear rail mounted one slot from the back and the UTG riser mounted almost all the way to the front of the Lion Gear extension I have my bipod much further forward and having both bipod and gun folded is much better.

One of these days I'll get the tallest UTG riser. By my measurements I'll be able to get the bipod slightly more forward and have a better position for shooting free hand if I need to take a quick shot at a pest with the bipod folded up.

I'm thinking in the time it took me to write this I could have just taken a few pictures. I'll do that and reply back.

This is the combination of the Lion Gears picatinny rail and the UTG riser:

If I mount the bipod one slot more forward I can't completely fold the Leshiy. I think with the 0.83" riser I could get it forward maybe a slot or two more forward and still be able to fold the Leshiy completely.

Before the Lion Gears rail I had to have the bipod almost all the way back on the stock Leshiy rail and I just didn't care for it there, although I could fold the gun and activate the safety.

I don't think I'll notice one bit of difference in having the bipod further forward with the taller UTG riser but my hope is I'll be able to take a quick shot at a pest with the bipod still folded up. As it is now I have to collapse the legs in order to have room to shoot the gun. With the taller riser I'll be able to have the legs set a bit shorter and have the bipod just a bit further forward. But here is how it sits now with the bipod in storage position.

Ideally I'd like to have a bipod with a quick release but for the price of a couple of inexpensive adapters this has been a more than sufficient solution. Still curious to hear what has worked for others.

I've been meaning to do this so I took some pics for you. Here's what I've found that works well with my Leshiy. UTG Super Slim Picatinny Riser Mount, 1/2 inch height. I found these at my local gun store in 2 different heights, .75" and .50" because I wasn't too sure which one would work to clear the QD mount on my bipods. There are a lot of other mounts out there but I picked up these for a quick fix.

Here it is with my Atlas PSR BT46-LW17 bipod in the folded position. It clears both the UTG picatinny mount and the Atlas/ADM QD mount and fully engages the safety.

It also clears with my Accu-Tac BR-4 G2. It does rub a little on the carabiner clip of the Leshiy stock but it is easily moved out of the way.

Here it is in the folded position with the Atlas bipod legs set at 45 degrees. No clearance issues.

Accu-Tac BR-4 G2 also clears...

Hope this helps. 🤙🏽

What brought you back to the Leshiy?

Great question. The Leshiy was a throw in with a deal I made here on the classifieds. It came with a March 1-10x24 scope that I intended to put on my .177 Veteran Compact. I was going to just sell the Leshiy to recoup some of the cost of the scope but my 13-year-old son has shown some interest in shooting it. I think he likes the lightweight nature of the gun that makes it easy for him to shoot offhand. It's value to me is purely the interest my son is has in it. Hopefully, it will help me hook him on airguns. If he looses interest in it, I'll sell it because the drawbacks of the platform still far outweight the pluses for me personally.

My soon to be 11 & 12 year old sons were a big influence on my interest in a Leshiy.

I wanted something they couldn't double load by accident & the Leshiy with the folded, breech open position is great for piece of mind when shooting with two pre-teen kids.

I saw that deal & wanted to PM the seller but as I recall it was F&F only & we had just purchased a boat so I refrained. Not easy to do.

Did you spend some time with the Leshiy/March before putting it on your Taipan?
