Uncocked relieves tension on the hammer spring, possibly extending spring life.

Closed position prevents unnecessary cocking of the gun and keeps particles of dust and dirt from entering. 

Best idea is get a small gun sock/case and store it uncocked and closed when not in use.

Just a few common sense thoughts. Probably not necessary as Ed's guns are built to last.

I leave mine unfolded and in my cabinet unless im packing it around. I have left it folded for over a week and have had no issues. Like Vetmx had said. Ed himself says its fine. So im sure there is no reason to worry. As long as you are not pushing a spring beyond its limits you can basically leave it compressed forever without causing any harm.
