Leg spring installation Diana 52

I'm installing a Vortex tuning kit and when disassembling the rifle the leg spring popped out before I could see what is holding it in place. The end that goes into the rifle is just two straight pieces of wire. Are there holes these ends fit into? I can't see any but want to make sure i don't reassemble the rifle incorrectly. Thanks.

I am not sure what spring you are talking about. Picture? Just follow eddie's rebuild instructions and you should be fine?

Wadcutter: Thank you. This will be a big help. It is always unnerving when disassembling something and a spring flies out before you understand how it should be secured. Right now I don't own a rifle, I own a bunch of parts that I know go together to make a rifle but I'm not quite sure how they go together. Thanks again.

I think the spring you are referring to is the bear paw spring that holds the loading port open when cocked and you have to push the lever down to close.
