Lead Round Balls

The problem with round balls is two fold. First there is only one point of contact with the rifling. That means it is easy to strip the rifling off the ball. Second the rifling rate is MUCH too fast to stabilize a ball. Rifling rates on the order of 1:66 are what one sees in the black powder world, and yes BP round ball rifles are very accurate, even at velocities which are nearly double that of average air rifles. Get a barrel with a 1:66 inch twist and it will shoot balls just fine.
