Lazy man's Field Target set up.

Lazy man's FT set up range. Got tired of setting out pellet traps and moving them back and forth, so I built this 5 yard target track with three 16 foot 2x4's for my tracking and cut up a twelve foot 2x12 board for my target holders. 10 & 11 yds are one foot tall, 12 & 13 yds are two foot tall, and 14 & 15 yard target holders are 3 foot tall. Then I cut 9inch tall sections of 2x12 to staple my targets too. When those sections get shot all to hell and back, I can just replace them. This makes it easier to double and triple check my range tape and my hold overs for the close shots. I really hate to miss a close shot at a match and this makes it so much easier for me to do drills for every single yard.
Now I need to figure out how to get some wheels on it so I can move it to the 16 to 20 yd section of the range. ;-)
Any ideas to make it more user friendly are welcome ;-)

Hahaha! Winch to lower it?
I think I need to get a motorized trolley to pull my 1000 pound bullet trap back and forth now? I didn't plan on 27 50 and 100 yard shoots
doing the lawn tractor is a real pain in the arse !
I see a few on the google - battery operated and pull style - like for moving boats on trailers ?
getiing to old .........

Yep, I'll be heading to Harbor Freight this weekend it looks like!
Here's my stack of targets when I got ready to bring them inside this evening. Should be able to use them many many more times as it only takes a few shots at each yardage to confirm holdovers. Eleven yds at 6 stadia below crosshair. Thirteen yds shot at 4 stadia below cross hair. Scope on 30 power and 2.95" above the bore ctc.
I just prefer holdovers to clicking and this keeps me sharp on my holdovers. Plus if these close yardages are off, I know instantly something is wrong.

Hummm.........I keep my ft targets in one place then I move to different distances from 10 yards to 53 yards when practising.

From 30 yards...........

So on and so forth......."easy peasy" plus similated moving from lane to lane a "little bit"!
Haha, Ed, I'm not worthy. I'm just a lazy ol' fat bastid ;-) I don't even shoot this on bucket or sticks or prone. I shoot straight from the picnic table with nice glass of cold iced tea nearby or maybe a cold Blue Moon. The only time I get into FT position is at a match ;-) LOL
But I use your targets religiously! Love those 100 shot 1/4" KZ targets.

"ocedummy"Between the box target on a cord and the RC car target I hardly break a sweat. And then when it gets too hot or cold, I go inside and set the A/C or heater to the desired temperature.

Haha, you got me beat man. Love your set up!
Really gotta get me an RC car target!
Peace and climate control grease

Jimmy, great talking with you today brother. I do appreciate the help. I will gladly help ya out on the RC setup. I will check and see what I can come up with. The cheaper toy type RC trucks may not have the range we would want. Once I move into my house next month, I will start doing some testing and get something setup for you and whoever else here on the forum that might be interested. Feels good to be able to "pay it forward" considering all the help you guys have been giving me.... Dale

Thanks Dale, I really need all the help I can get picking out a decent RC setup for that. That should really come in handy for the 40 to 55 yd shots!
Got a friend making me another 5 yd target sled out of recycled pallets. Should be interesting to see what he comes up with. Will cost me less than what the material cost alone for the one I built? Hope to find some wheels for them this weekend.
