Latest "Z" Target - swinging plate

I have posted plans and photos of other nice targets I have made over the last several months - just fun to do in my work shop when get bored.

Below is a photo of two of my latest swinging plate targets. They move a little bit with the TX200 .177 at 40 yards but really return a nice ring to one's ears, and of course the pellet is totally flattened.

My .22 AA PCP swings it quite nicely out to 50 yards, and even out to 80 yards once gets a really nice "ring" return.

With anchor bolts as stakes (not needed unless really close, on a significant incline, or possibly shooting with 30 lbs plus), not including my time, I have about $25.00 per piece in each of these.

All of the materials are available from Lowes, Home Depot, other home improvement stores.

Once can't purchase targets that react as well over a much longer period of time, or hold up as well, for such money.

Below is a photo of the final output after the blade was painted. I appreciate the thought about the water pipe. I have made and posted other targets of similar construction with spinner blades that worked out well. In some cases, I have covered the front face of the 2 x 4 with 1/8" steel available from Lowes and they have worked out real well. Fortunately, I rarely miss this far as my maximum range is 80 yards, and the 2 x 4 uprights are really durable with my 20 to 25 lb rifles - taking several hits before showing any sign of deterioration. In this case, I actually added about 3" to each side to be certain I had plenty of room for error. With a 3" width and even a stiff wind, these should be missed much. Have fun!

Not only can the Z make a great target but his generosity is out of this world. He’s responsible for my first ever airgun related Christmas gift, other than me to me. In reality just being able to go to his shooting “pad” is one of the greatest gifts any airgunner could want. Thanks Z Oh I should mention he armored up the wood for days when I’m off my game.
