Last Shot Hold Open Mod

Hello,

I am somewhat new to air gunning and have been reading a lot of good info on this forum, so thank you all!

I am wondering if anybody has a last shot hold open mod for a FX Wildcat MKII? I am sick of losing track and shooting air. The best option I have come up with is filling the correct pellet hole with epoxy or silicone and marking the magazine so I always insert it the same way. When the 7th shot has been fired the epoxy would block the probe from going forward on the next attempt to run the action letting me know I am empty. There is an o-ring inside the magazine that holds the pellets in place. The o-ring should act as a mechanical lock which would hold the epoxy in place. This would make an 8 round mag into a 7 round mag but it might be worth it.

Any thoughts?

Drill and indicator mark on the mag When it comes around you know you're back at the chamber you started with.

At first glance, your "plug" idea looked pretty good. However, after thinking about it a little while, it occurred to me that the o-ring in the magazine will need replacing eventually and will require you to drill out the epoxy plug and risk nicking the bore of that hole with the drill. Any one of the other suggestions offered so far are better options for you.

What I do is: as empty holes rotate outside the breech, I install a pellet. I don't remove the mag to fill it. I run out of air before I run out of pellets. Try it. You might like it.

Thanks for the replies guys! Sorry for the delay in my response. I thought I would get an email or some kind of notification when someone replies.

Since day one I have had a paint pen mark on the mag that I align at the top when I insert the mag. But since it's so close to your face while shooting in the heat of the moment I have screwed it up more than once. I realize it's a training issue that I could/should get used to. I am just so used to firearms that lock open when empty.

I also thought about the o-ring inside the mag needing replacing but looking at the mag I couldn't tell if it came apart to do so.

I also wouldn't wanna bend or damage the probe if I went to close the bolt handle with some force on the hard surface of the epoxy.

Thanks for all your input! Perhaps it's back to the drawing board.
