Last day of limb chicken season 2015!

Well today was the last day of squirrel season for 2015 and it was a crappy weather day for sure wet over cast rainy and very windy.
I spent the day in a woodlot that I have not hunted in almost 16 years and I hunted it with the friend that I was there with last time!
I used my Fx Independence .22 and my friend used his 45 cal flint lock with 15gr of BB over a round ball.
Together we only saw two squirrels and I harvested one and he was not able to get on the other one we saw but all in all it was a wonderful day afiels and a great way to end the season off!

Just getting out there and focusing on the hunt is reward enough for me, have come up dry on my last few rabbit hunts. Now that flintlock is what I call Old school! Does your friend "bark" his squirrels? I've heard of folks doing that but never seen it done. Nice woods!

John ...he does and I used to do the same as my squirrel rifle used to be a 36cal Hawken lol
its actually a lot easier then you would think with a round ball

As a single dad my daddy duties were in full swing by the time I got home and I cleaned that single squirrel up as fast as I could and hot him into an salt water ice bath as fast as I could lol ...no time for pics on that one unfortunately

I shot a squirrel with a .45 charcoal burner once. It wasn't pretty, I ended up with two half squirrels...

My .25 marauder is instant squirrel death, makes rimfire or shotgun seem like overreaching.

Just must have a shortage of limb chickens in your neck of the woods. Here in Ohio we keep the pressure on them until the end of January and the end of February for their rascally rabbit cousins. Plus year round pest elimination rights on ones own property (gained though showing pictures of wrecked screening and chewed though cedar porch to game warden).

no shortage here almost no one hunts them but there classed as a game animal and the season is from Sept 25th to Dec 15th and we are allowed to harvest 5 per day!
We are able to shoot them as pests here on our own property as well but I live in town limits and can not discharge a gun ...even an air gun for the purpose of hunting lol

Move to New Mexico! No limit on squirrels, rabbits, prairie dogs, grouse (one specie), skunk, coyotes, European (collared) doves, and a couple of others. And, bring your pellet guns, because they're legal for these species too!

Oh! One more thing. No closed season on these either!

There is no season for squirrels in Washington. You just need a Big/Small Game license and it's game on, year round. Of course, there are very few squirrels in WA too. Lots of Sage Rats and Marmots though...
