Largest bird I've shot

70yds......crop damage permit for Sandhill Cranes.

30gr Varmintknockers slug, 22cal at 900fps. Straight in the back. He flew about 50 yds before giving up and falling like a rock.

The seven I shot prior were with my centerfire at 200+ yds.

Hey Bob I guess you never know what type of critter will be next on the pest list. Anytime you can help out the farmers who work their butts off is a good thing. Bill

Rib eye of the sky. Should be excellent eating!

Had to look it up....

"Can you eat a sandhill crane?

Sandhill cranes are not big fish eaters, so they're not in competition with fishermen or fish farmers. ... Unlike cormorants, however, the flesh of sandhill cranes is edible and is reported by hunters to taste much like pork chops, so the birds are not merely killed and composted, but are also consumed."

am surprised it don't taste like chicken. 👍
