Largest bird I've shot

70yds......crop damage permit for Sandhill Cranes.

30gr Varmintknockers slug, 22cal at 900fps. Straight in the back. He flew about 50 yds before giving up and falling like a rock.

The seven I shot prior were with my centerfire at 200+ yds.

Bob O , I have always enjoyed your videos and pictures. But you was the guy that told me how to tune my gun, the video was after the time you spent at the shooting range for slugs and what to do. And you’re info worked well for me and since then I have never had to change anything, that’s been over 10,000 shots ago and all I can say is thanks.

Imagine the leg soup you could make out of one of them. 
Here in Nebraska we build statues to Sandhills and Bob you get to shoot em.

am surprised it don't taste like chicken.

I've heard that they taste good but when shot on a permit, they have to be discarded/disposed of.

I've heard of similar regulations here on the east coast. What a shame it is when law-making organizations force us to waste the meat of our natural resources. Too much bureaucracy and not enough education is what it is.

I guess the big bird would taste like Big Bird at Thanksgiving. Also, great shooting Bod, and I love your videos and now that I have an Impact time to scroll through and get to the tuning ones.

I like those varmint knockers. Casting my own in .25 and they are my most accurate pellets. 

Too bad you couldn't eat it. They really are the "ribeye of the sky" 

They would fly in by the hundreds when I used to hunt in west Texas. If we did not see any deer on the hunt we would pop a sand hill crane.

I don't know why I thought Sandhills where only in Texas, but when they do migrate here, we have lots of them, have never got one, but would like to try one, heard they are the ribeye of the sky.
