Labor Day 2020 What will you do / did?

Enabled a neighbor friend of mine with his first 12 gauge shotgun by taking him to the range and running him through the paces and while there, did a quick repair job on another shooters Walther 22 semi-auto that his wife just purchased.

Going back later today with another neighbor who just bought a S&W M&P Shield to fire it for the first time and run him through the paces.

Something must be going on that I am not aware of, in that there seems to be a lot of people buying guns for the first time.

Will bring my Daystate Red Wolf with me and set up some paint balls at 50 yards and pop them off. Maybe bring another sucka' into the fold.

Reconfigured my dream-tac compact. 

Worked all night. Slept all day. Worked all night. Dreamt about shooting the whole time.

Currently getting outbid on an airgun I’ve wanted forever. Had it once but in a downward spiral I ended up getting rid of it. Luckily there’s 2 of them so maybe I’ll win 1. Tomorrow and the next day I’ll be out shooting in the mountains to continue my tuning efforts and maybe get some field target sticks and bucket training in. 

Took my wife and pup on a four hour paddle up the local creek. Then off to the dairy for a little pesting action.

Had some time and energy to play with my new PARD. The rifle(s) for it come next Monday.

Saw FOUR white turkeys in a flock outside today. Didn't even know they could get that way. That was very cool. Couldn't get all four into the same picture.

Shot, rode our e-bikes, and swam in the pool (it was HOT for us, touched over 100 on both Sat and Sun).

Got my new-to-me refurb S510 XS Ultimate Sporter Xtra FAC, Black Soft Touch a day early from Pyramidair, so was able to play with it for the first time this weekend. Nice that they had an addional 20% off refurbs deal last week.

I'm just getting back into air rifles as it is something to do in my own back yard during all this COVID stuff. I don't have any experience or training in benchrest shooting, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally, and the S510 makes it pretty easy. My best 5 shot group at 25 yards in the heat, but with no wind:



My wife's friend brought her daughter and another friend over for a swim, so I pulled out my wife's Dreamline Classic for them to shoot if she wanted to. Her friend had never shot in her life, but with only a little coaching she shot her first ever group in the 41 years she has been on this earth. Her dad loved it (didn't believe that she had actually shot the group, or that it was with an air rifle), and her mom told her that she better stay away from our place from now on! Hope I have started to set the hook on another new shooter.

I went shooting this morning, early, trying to beat the wind so I could test the new barrel tensioning system. Didn’t beat the wind so the results were inconclusive. Then this afternoon when it got to be 111 degrees outside, my son and I wen’t diving for crayfish. Got a bunch of them for a tasty dinner! Crawfish Scampi, toasted garlic bread and corn on the cobb. What a great day!

Well I won the bidding war. I purchased a new in box Gamo ACCU. I can only hope it lives up to the accuracy of my last one. It’ll be good to finally take an ACCU apart to verify with certainty that the reduced velocity of the CFR is due to the transfer port size. Just have to get over my reluctance to change from stock form and go ahead with tuning it.

Me too, plus it was raining so I couldn't stop at my dad's to check for chipmunks

Just screwed around in the shop....as usual. 

Dug out my old beater FWB 124 and cut the breech block for bronze inserts, and added a rear bearing to the piston. The piston was lightened with two extra slots a while back. Added a .015" F.E.P. piston sleeve as well. The clear looks a little funny lol
