Kral Puncher Pro and a drop of 30 fps.

Finally got time to do a bit of shooting with the .22 refurbished Puncher Pro. Shooting JSB 18.13's at an average of 909 (how I received it) and 12 shots made the top group at 40 yds. And these were the Best shooting pellets. Not too impressive!

Off came the stock and I backed off the hammer spring several turns. Kept fiddling with it till I got to approximately 880-ish fps. Put it back together and the velocity Averaged 880.The groups shrunk...a Lot! After a few clicks on another target,I shot at the one you see here under the previous higher velocity mess.

Same 12 shots. Same pellets.Same 40 yards. Never did I think 30 fps would make such a drastic difference!

Guess I'll just have to live with a paltry 31 ft/lb. LOL!

Btw,at 3/4 power it's Almost at the same poi with 788 fps. (25 ft/lbs). Quite satisfied!

Yup, I am seeing the same behavior with my kral bigmax. Some of my best groups with JSB 18s were around the same velocity (870 fps). I did decide to open up the transfer ports a bit to shoot jsb monsters better. I got great results shooting them around 800 fps. This energy level pushed the 18s way too fast (940 fps) and accuracy definitely suffered. The good news is that I'll be able to throttle the power back with the power wheel TP adjustment. It's a whole lot easier on the bigmax doing it that way vs dumping air in both tanks and tweaking the hammer spring.

GREAT shooting by the way!

Thank You Sir!

I had thought about opening up the tp, but frankly, this thing is shooting pretty damn well as is. I'm not too sure that I wanna go fiddling around and screw up a good thing. I'm Perfectly OK with smacking the snot outta something with 31 ft lbs as opposed to missing altogether at 40+.

Right now,the trigger pull can be measured in ounces, the bolt is Wonderfully smooth (I did some work on it) and For ONCE I hit the "Walnut Lottery"! I had thought about the new Puncher Pro 500 but this came up for a LOT less. A sidelever is still pretty enticing but after some tlc (not the group) the bolt action works REAL Good! I can cycle it just as quickly as my Puncher Breaker...and it's pretty accurate,to boot.
