Just when good deals on the classifieds seem to be a thing of the past

I stumbled upon an ad for two Bushnell Trophy pistol scopes for what seemed an excellent price. Alway seeming to be one scope shy of what I need, despite my suspicion this model has too long eye-relief to work for me (based on Bushnell's published specs), the seller's almost-derogatory description of condition, and the possibility that description might actually prove "optimistic" (at best), I made a lower offer that was accepted. The scopes arrived today.

Both scopes are in like-new condition. The mounts included that I thought cheap based on not looking closely at the photos are BKLs; one an offset mount, in fact. The scope caps are nice Butler Creek flip-ups. And (thankfully) the scopes' eye-relief is not as long as Bushnell publishes, so I can actually use these scopes!

The asking price would be about right, had all my dreads proven correct. But that everything about this leap-of-faith purchase proved up to my every HOPE, makes it the best deal I've gotten on the classifieds in years.

There are still good deals out there in airgun cyberspace. They are just increasingly difficult to find, sometimes more difficult to recognize, and "you gotta kiss a lot of frogs"!

BTW, I just tipped the seller 30% (after the fact). I do that sometimes (when well justified).

Awesome on both parts!

Funny. I noticed the same thing. Looking at a rifle the other day, the seller wants the same price that I found online for...new.

So...I buy from him, no guarantee, no clue as to how the gun has been treated, handled...where's the sense in that ? Easier, much more reliable to buy new.

I asked the seller about this. He didn't seem to care that I could buy new for the same cost. Oh well...
