I tend to agree with the damned if they do and damned if they don't assessment. If they put it in a box and the shipping is higher then it should have been put in an envelope. If they put it in and envelope and it is lost or damaged then why didn't they put it in a box.

It isn't hard these days to get a pretty good idea of what the various shipping costs available are. If a vendor is significantly higher then talk to them. If you don't get satisfaction go elsewhere.

Sometimes I think threads started about shipping cost complaints make up a much bigger than necessary percentage of posts. It isn't a terribly difficult issue to deal with.

That is about the stupidest shipping idea I have seen in quite some time. That just reaks "cheap and inadequate". It should have gone in another larger box for both if the piece would not fit in the white box itself. Charge what you have to charge. Many parts like that are only practical to buy from an airgun vendor with an order of other products going in a box. 

That piece would not be a good candidate for a padded envelope IMO. Sure some of them will get through. Evelopes suck for anything that is that has some weight, thickness, threads or has corners/sides which are not rounded off. Padded envelopes are great for O rings or other flat or rubber things without any sharp edges or weight. Now there are the super padded envelopes which fair much better but probably cost as much as a box. 

Shipping conveyer systems that handle all these packages are not kind. You have to assume these things have a significant chance of going off a 36" drop followed by a box over 20lbs at some point.

I have WAY better luck with shipping on things like that from Ebay and Amazon. They are geared for the nickle and dime oddities and have all the goofy size boxes and packing material.

OK, at first, based on the OP reply I thought you were right. But I looked and this part is $25 at AOA.

I did find this part at a dealer in Utah for $13.99. I then did the "estimate shipping", using a Mn zipcode and it did give me a price of $15.80 for shipping. BUT this was for FedEx ground. It gave me 3 options. Of course I can't believe that the OP would have purposefully NOT picked the cheapest option and then come here and post about the cost.

  • Priority Ground Shipping (Small Package) $8.95
  • FedEx Ground (Ground Home Delivery) $15.80
  • FedEx Ground (FedEx Express Saver) $28.42

Ok, maybe not $1.50 but the calculator does not include USPS ground. It jumps right into Priority. I have shipped items that I could have gone the priority method for just over $8.00 but if you take it to the post office you can get a cheaper price on a light weight padded envelop shipping it USPS ground. Definitely not a $15 or even $8.00 price tag.

It's $4.50, it's there just scroll down. Biggest issue with it is though that you can't just purchase it on the USPS website. You have to drive to the PO and purchase it, and then drive back. Now add up the $4.50, plus your gas, plus your time at $15 per hour. FAR cry from $1.50

Lol I just spent as much on shipping as I did for a cheesy air venturi part from praymid air..a male foster to female bssp thread for my hatsan. The part was a out ten bucks but shipping was the same...lol you can ship that part with some impressive bubble wrap around it anywhere in the USA for 4 bucks. But no it doesn't end there...pyramid double down on me a d sent a fitting which blew more air than a narwhal! Thing leaked like a sieve....a hood person on this forum sent me a link to a amazon listing that was half the price with extra orings and works perfectly...ohhh pyramid has had the return for a while now and not a word out of that crowd....can I say this here? Screw pyramid air?

Gotta wonder - Did you know the shipping charge BEFORE you paid? Was it Utah where you choose the shipping? That's the only one I see who was $15.80 so far in my search.

Customer is not always right...we have trained the consumer to be demanding by giving in to unreasonable demands. As a retired toolmaker, I can say with certainty that if my company gave in to customer demands becausevthe customer is always right, would have caused serious injury to to those operating the tool. My wife worked retail and they believed the customer was always right. So often that the customer ran the company broke. After 24 yrs the company closed because they gave into rediculous customer demands. Yes, a company should strive to meet reasonable needs and demands of the customer but...the customer is not always right!!!

Just out of curiosity I swung by our Post Office, in and out in 5 min for a price check on this package to 85233 which is in AZ and I'm in NM so very close. Not $1.50 but still only $4.15 (first class ground). A very very FAR cry from $15. I know if I was the seller I'd feel pretty guilty about charging that much for that item. I've shipped a lot of smaller items in the small Priority Boxes due to the protection they give. Sometimes a little cramped but I get it in there.

AOA is the only airgun store I use. Pyramyd, depot I always have problems with, I think they partnered up, cause I order from Pyramyd, but it comes to my door with depot as the sender. Big hassle with them every time, i pay for the extra for them to check it out, but the box arrives still factory sealed.

If I ever have something that is low in cost i try to order from Amazon, or put enough in AOA cart, that will justify the shipping costs. Good luck

I’m waiting on supplies sent USPS the worst way to send anything, the package left ST.Louis MO. On July 19th going to Pennsylvania not going to arrive until the 29th and that’s paying $9.00 shipping so if anyone sees a mail man on a bicycle on I-80 please don’t hit him he has my package.I was an over the road truck driver for 43 years I know it doesn’t take 10 days to go from St.Louis Mo. to stroudsburg pa.USPS SUCKS and so do the company’s that use them!

This kind of reminds of my work. I work in a packaging area, of a big factory. We either pack on pallets, for bigger stuff, or in boxes for smaller stuff. We basically have 5 sizes of boxes. The smallest box is basically A5 size (half the size of a normal writing paper), and 15cm high. We load the pallets and boxes on trucks ready for transport. Often the boxes are laid on top of pallets. The reason we do not use small bags, or envelopes, is that they have a bigger chance of dissapearing. And also because of maybe 5, out of 100 packages actually do consist of one small item. So we prioritise the customer actually get the package, instead of it having a bigger chance dissapearing during transport.

What has changed is arrogant entitlement by many customers that make this statement.
