Just venting

Ya know, getting into pcp or just air gunning in general isnt a cheap adventure as all of you know.

But man, I ordered a female couple for my fill probe, not saying what well known shop, and the shipping was more than the part I ordered...!!! $15.80 to be exact. This could have been sent in a padded envelope.

Here's the box it came in...

Holy moly, dang near a tin of buwlits for crying out loud...😫

yes, many vendors have lost my order over shipping nonsense, not just in airguns .. i know what rates are generally for me to ship something at usps and if theyre 4 times that or something nuhuh .. not if i can find it anywhere else .. i see it as a form of scam myself, although in some cases they probably just want to dump every order on the ups truck in one shot and not have to go to the post office ..

I sure am glad I'm not in business nowadays.

A while back (not sure if this forum or a different one) a guy orders a fitting similar to yours. It gets shipped in a padded envelope, during shipping it gets manhandled and the smaller end pushed thru the envelope and the part is lost. Only thing delivered in an empty envelope. Guy was posting complaining about why they would ship it that way and not in a box. As a seller it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

My hard earned money is important and I know they could use a little common sense and ship items in a cost and customer saving method. In your case Rich as you said a padded envelope would have been perfect. Maybe a $1.50 max for shipping. There's dealers like NSA that'll cram as many boxes of slugs possible in the smaller fixed rate USPS box and ship them for $8 or so. That's why we appreciate them.

Thank you,

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Based on some of the back and forth I think the shipper is in zipcode 85233. Since the OP is in Mn his zipcode is between 55001 and 56763.

Now below is the USPS price calculator. Enter the 2 zipcodes, and use a weight of just 1 ounce. See what you get. Remember due to the thickness it can't just go First Class, needs to be a parcel. Come back and let us know how far you were off on your "$1.50 max" estimate.

Sounds like AOA. If so, you can call and request different shipping methods (i.e. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc).

OK, at first, based on the OP reply I thought you were right. But I looked and this part is $25 at AOA.

I did find this part at a dealer in Utah for $13.99. I then did the "estimate shipping", using a Mn zipcode and it did give me a price of $15.80 for shipping. BUT this was for FedEx ground. It gave me 3 options. Of course I can't believe that the OP would have purposefully NOT picked the cheapest option and then come here and post about the cost.

Shipping Methods

  • Priority Ground Shipping (Small Package) $8.95
  • FedEx Ground (Ground Home Delivery) $15.80
  • FedEx Ground (FedEx Express Saver) $28.42

Ok, maybe not $1.50 but the calculator does not include USPS ground. It jumps right into Priority. I have shipped items that I could have gone the priority method for just over $8.00 but if you take it to the post office you can get a cheaper price on a light weight padded envelop shipping it USPS ground. Definitely not a $15 or even $8.00 price tag.
