Just received my wild boar skull back from Hydro-Dip

Since this was the largest boar I've ever seen on the island I decided to immortalize him. After cleaning the skull, I sent it over to Hydro-Dip for a paint job. Overall I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

In hindsight if I were to do it again I would opt for a semi-gloss finish instead of a high gloss finish. I may hit it with some 0000 grit steel wool to see if I can de-gloss it a bit. Your can see pictures of "Hogzilla" and the hunt here https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/hogzilla-down/?view=all

Michael – nicely done!

To de-gloss the finish, try a fine 3M polishing pad to lightly buff the areas you can get at without going thru the existing finish. Dust it off and over spay with a semi-gloss finish like Minwax polyurethane. It’s available in a rattle can.

"skygear"DO NOT SAND IT! . . . Get a can of Rustoleum Satin Clear Coat enamel. Spray it in the sun and let it cure outside. Spraying it over the gloss will still make it look satin. The exterior coat is what translates the finish.

If you do not like the satin once it dries, get a can of FLAT clear coat.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I may just do a light coat of satin on top of the gloss.

Good recommendation
