Just Paid For My First PCP...

I need a new Airgun for pest control in my back yard. I currently have 2 older Gamo break barrels and an assortment of Daisy bb guns from 40 years ago.
I began poking around a few months ago and as much as I tried to stay away, I kept being drawn back to the PCP arena.

I was planning my first-ever post here this evening to ask advice on 2 entry-level PCPs (Umarex Gauntlet vs. Hatsan Flash QE), but on my way in, I was sidetracked by the classified ads.
I contacted a seller, received quick replies, sent some money, and got one heck of a deal. He promised to ship tomorrow and I can't wait!

I just left ebay where I ordered a cheapo hand pump and a Yong Heng compressor.

Where's a good one-stop-shop for .22 ammo? I figure I'll order 5 or 6 to begin testing which the gun prefers.

Here's a link to the WTS ad...

That's great welcome to the addiction where you can spend as much as you like and still not have everything you want. ;^) There is always something new, more shiny, just around the corner.

This is a great friendly place to deal with it all though for sure.

Bob_O has it right the pellet selection at Pyramyd is huge for sure.

Congrats on your new to you gun and enjoy.

About the Yong Heng;

I have the auto shut off unit but when using it regularly I blew a few to many burst discs. When I bled the pressure first I did not blow any burst discs so I try to bleed the system first these days. Once I bleed the system I turn the unit off but let the stock water pump run for a few minutes to cool things down. To keep temps down, since I only use about two gallons of water, I put a frozen half gallon jug of water in the bucket. This allows me to run 15-20 minutes which is more than enough to do all of my tanks and guns.

Using a decent switched outlet strip or similar will keep you from forgetting to turn on the pump and overheating your compressor as I did several times.

Keeping the water supply at the same level as your compressor will help the water pump perform at it's best. My pump is two years old and still performs as per design.

Having the tank or gun higher than your compressor will help keep moisture out of tanks and guns as will a better filter. I use the three media unit myself.

Purging the system every few/five minutes or so will keep the moisture down considerably.

Changing the little YH filter every twenty minutes of use will help keep moisture down as well. Set the filter aside to dry and put it back in next time until it gets ugly then toss it.

Once again Pyramyd has a huge selection. Trenier does NOT and the prices are very close to the same. Don't forget buy three get the fourth free at Pyramyd. I always buy four. Not sure about the shipping cuz Trenier is out of everything so I am unable to compare it. Pyramyd has excellent protection for shipped tins as well and for the most part ships the same day or next. Hard to be faster. Nothing wrong with Trenier though I have purchased from both companies and have been pleased with both.

+1 on Trenier for me too, his customer service beats everyone hands down, he packs very well and ships quick. I don't buy from PA even with their buy 3 get the 4th free unless I absolutely have no choice and besides, with the markup they have on their pellets, you're real close to paying for that 4th tin anyway depending what your lowest price tin might be.

Congrats on your new beast and I say that knowing it weighs close to 10 pounds unscoped. Has the same air tube as my Hatsan Galatian III QE so if you're hand pumping, it's about 100 pumps from 150 to 200 on the gauge and a pretty good work out.

Make sure to come back and fill us in on what you think after you get to shoot some :)

Same model I had. QE moderator itself just doesn't tame the bark enough for me. My Donny screwed on to the QE shroud end, NOT the barrel end (got the Hatsan adapter when I bought the Donny). Unbelievable difference in volume & accuracy. It makes it long but the neighbors never heard it!

I have the BT65 in .30 with the QE moderator. It it still noticeable loud and I agree an additional moderator is needed to get it backyard friendly if you need it to be that quiet. Also to the OP I would recommend you try some heavy pellets, your gun should shoot very hard and might be more accurate with them. Mine will push 44.75 JSB’s in the 880 range.
