Just ordered an ATN X Sight 4K Pro, any user tips?

I ordered an ATN X Sight 4K Pro 3-14x tonight and was wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers on it for airgun use? I found a very good deal on eBay and couldn’t pass it up since I’ve been looking at some type of night vision scope for several weeks now. I have no ideal what I’m putting it on yet. I own three rifles that I am currently considering using it on. A .22 Daystate Pulsar HP that puts out 50 FPE, a Taipan Veteran Long also in .22 that’s 45 FPE and a Taipan Veteran Compact in .25 that’s also 45 FPE. I can shoot really well with all three and need to decide something in the next couple of days. This will be a pest gun to eliminate raccoons from tearing up my chicken coop trying to get inside at night. I also have an occasional mouse and have seen a few coyotes as well but this isn’t very often. If you have one of these scopes and have any tips or tricks to share I would greatly appreciate it. Also, what height rings do I need to get the base of the scope off the rail? It looks thick in the pictures but I was hoping a medium height around 1.25 inches would work.

Congratulations on your purchase. Make sure you have the latest software update on the ATN. You can download the update from the ATN website. Make sure you put in the right pellet/slug information as well.
As far as rings go, I am using the Eagle Vision adjustable rings. When I did my initial zero, which is extremely easy to do, it was in my backyard at 14 yards. When I was doing the one shot zero I ran out of adjustability so the adjustable rings were perfect.
If you get the error where the compass is you just need to rotate the scope around in a circle in multiple axis and everything is recalibrated for directionality. I have an ATN rangefinder, handheld, that is linked to the scope so when your ranging a target it automatically adjusts the crosshairs so you just point and shoot.

Once you get it if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Once it's setup it's power on and recording...

you can probably save profiles for all your guns, so you can try them all. all i can add is that unless there is sufficient ambient light, you'll want a good illuminator.

The ATN typically comes with an IR illuminator which is pretty good for 50 to 75 yards at night. Once you switch the scope to night mode you will be very happy with what you can see. And yes, you can save multiple profiles...

These should be pretty helpful to help you understand the unit. I lost my favorite link somewhere. Once you play with it for a few minutes you will be able to get around and understand what all of the apps are about. Still it takes a bit of time to understand all that is useful and available as there is allot.

Just remember it is a computer so don't turn everything on to it's max and expect it to run quickly cuz it will slow everything down and possibly cause errors.

Get a good quality name brand SD card capable of recording high quality vids.

Format it in the unit for best results.

Then update the software and afterwards remove the update files from the card or it will want to constantly update.

Take the time to run through the menu several times now and then so you will remember where your most used apps are and what they do.

I saw from a few places that a 16gb sd performs best and its recommended to use the hc so I went with this one

SanDisk 16GB Ultra microSDHC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 98MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-016G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073K14CVB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8SWCBCKJ09XGGHX0MXE0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

No problems with it at all. Yes the included ir will do well to about 100 yards I did a test using the popular sniper hog lights and was very satisfied, the obbsiden app is helpful but I find inputting in the scope gives you more accurate numbers but the app is the only way to change to profile name. As others have said it is a computer trying to compute a lot of information. If you would like more info or some videos I have done nothing fancy just using the scope just send me a message.

Lots of good advice here, I appreciate everyone helping out. I’m not going to be that big on recording with it, that wasn’t a necessary function for me. I bought it for $464 shipped before tax. It’s a refurbished one from EBay, the seller had a really good rating and sold mostly ATN products. I thought for that much I could stick it on something else if I decided to get a thermal unit later. I’m definitely not trying it on all three of the rifles I mentioned, they are all set up well currently and with pellets so scare I don’t want to have to readjust all three of them. I’ve narrowed it down to one of the Taipans, I’m thinking the .25 shorty but could change my mind and go with the .22 long instead. My tracking shows it will be here Thursday so hopefully it’s dialed in by Friday night and I’ll have all weekend to see how it does.

Everyone pretty much is spot on for any advice I can think of. Only part I would reiterate and add is the sd card formatting in the unit, remove the firmware after updating. Do not try to open the .bin firmware file ever. Winblows can and will corrupt the file. Bricked one of mine, but easily fixed. I also found that a 3.1A charger helps.

I saw an instruction video that ATN had on their site on doing the update. The video showed the SD card being connected directly to a computer via a card reader for the update and then installing it in the scope. Are you guys saying to leave the card in the scope and connect the scope to a computer with the provided USB cable or following the video instructions? I don’t have the scope yet so I’m not sure what connections they supply. I was under the impression that the USB port on the scope was for charging only. I have already ordered the suggested Sandisk Micro card and a reader along with the CR123 batteries for the IR illuminator. I just found out they give you rings so I assume that’s all I need to get started?
