Just made a 40 yard spinner target

My shooting range is all uphill and there’s only trees to mount targets on, so I weld heavy wire to the target and wrap it onto the tree lol. Works great. I had to replace my 12 gauge steel spinners because they finally got too bent up. This time I used 1/4 inch plate, and I think it’s going to hold up. The largest disk is one inch and the smallest one is a little bit smaller than a .177 pellet. I’m going to make one for 60 yards and one for 100 yards. Spinners are just so much fun, a perfect hit sounds so completely satisfying lol! I shoot from the window in the trailer, the 100 yard target is even more uphill! Still I’m really lucky to be able to do this.

Looks like it will take the punishment! Where are you shooting from? The closest house in the picture or the second story window with the light on across the street? Looks like quite the distance either way. Nice work!

ha ha! I went back and read the text instead of just looking at the picture. You answered the question before I even asked it! 😂😜 Beautiful backdrop to live by.

oldsparky, the round stock is 3/16 cold rolled, and the spacers are pieces of heavy wire to keep them apart. I was just shooting at the little disk and you can cut pellets in half on it, they hit the metal backstop sheet in two places. Here’s a picture of the smallest disk and a .177 pellet, the 1/4 inch plate turns the little ones into blades.

Nice! I wish I had the knowledge, tools, and time to make one myself. When you don't have any of these, you end up purchasing one like I did. I just ordered one of the KYL targets from shootingtargets7.com for $160 not including S&H.

These are great people to get targets from. Good quality and attention to detail of the finished product (no sharp edges.)
