Just do it!!!!!!!!

Most homeowner's policy gun coverage cap out at $2500. Talk to your agent about a (spp ) scheduled personal property rider. You will need an appraisal for each gun along with serial # to add rider. I would bet most of you never looked over your policy in detail. Why take the chance on a loss when its sooo simple. Lots of you have way over $10,000 worth of guns just laying around with the basic coverage. Just saying guys/gals.

You are absolutely correct. When I phoned my agent I was told to get appraisals for each. My reply was "That's great, but I cannot get these firearms in California any longer due to their laws."

I told my agent that I would tell him the values and he could charge me the cost of coverage. Appraisals are not necessarily needed, especially with product that is virtually irreplaceable. Yes, you still need to give them serial numbers and descriptions, but that's normal.

Unless you have had claims, you would also never know that while the agent will TELL you that your fancy car sound system is 'covered', it's NOT covered for that $2,000 you just paid for it. It's worth a small fraction of that cost because 'covered' to the agent means you are covered for a minimal amount.

Every upgrade you do to your vehicle must be called in to your agent and explained that you want full replacement coverage or you'red going to get a standard allowance value for your sound system.

Two safes for me, one 2000# one 1400#. Just like coverage for jewelry, it’s just too expensive, and just because you have insurance does not mean they will pay up if something happens. The first thing an insurance company does when you file a claim is read the 50 pages of fine print to figure out why you’re not covered. I am self insured whenever possible.

Come on guys. Consider this. Insurance make it possible for you to play with your toys. Manufacturers have liability insurance. You may not like it but nothing is done without it. If you have the funds by all means "self insure". This tread was started as a wake up call for some. We guys that have safes understand. I hope everyone is covered in some form. Stay well.
