JSB slugs and MY Taipan Veteran

HI I wanted to share as some know I have a taipan veteran I have tuned 52fpe with the 18 inch barrel and it is one of my most accurate airguns , I have done mods to everything from hammer to the valve and springs , I am currently running 2 of ernest power plenums at 135 bar , with my CZ choked 18 inch barrel

Now the gun cocks and sounds like it is 15fpe it is amazing , I decided to step it to the next level as I love the taipans trigger and engineering

SO I decided to re barrel it so I got a 24 inch uncooked slug barrel and it is threaded as oem , and it is same diameter for harmonics ,

OK lets fast forward , so here is my barrel , 24 inch slug barrel , I had to order a moderator adapter from Donnyfl for it so then I will test this week , with slugs ranging from 25 gr to 67 gr

also I got me 20 tins of JSB knockouts to test , I really like these for store bought ammo , I mean the HN are very accurate , but very dirty and a bit rough , by appearance the JSB look way better , check back for results here are pics

my new 24 inch slug barrel next to my oem cz one

I noticed this that the crown isnt as sharp and smooth as II like it , I did not do it , now I do like the threading job , and they did great looking job on cutting breach , if it does not shoot tight groups like the stock cz did , I will cut a 11 degree recessed crown on my lathe or brownells crown tool ,like I did with my CZ

OK well I had to remove my power plenums to put barrel on for now , I am starting with a tatsu on it , and bypassed the oem moderator and the tanto , I can reuse it all but guns barrel will be too long , ok look at gun now with power plenums removed , it is shorter then stock by 3 inches and my barrel is now 6 inches longer , this is a temp tune , as I got this barrel for my 40 to 67 gr slugs , so I will need to reinstall both power plenums soon after I see how she shoots with 27 to 34 gr ammo here is more pics

I shot gun today with some knockouts and some hn 30 gr all going 900 to 950 fps i shot about 100 and I was hitting spinners at 75 yds , , I was not happy with results I mean i got many hits but the 18 in barrel hit more hits at double yardage , so I decided to re crown it , and I soaked barrel with ballistoil and scrubbed , then I lapped it on lathe using a cast from lead with grooves filled with 600 gr compound , then I cleaned and dried here is my new crown does it look better ? it does to me I will retry soon , also I shot this gun with tatsu ugg too loud I put on my 30 cal ronnin for now , it was better but a bit big ,

What size is the JSB, H&N and your 27-34's? What are the land and groove measurements on the CZ slug barrel? Knowing all these diameters can save you a lot of wasted lead. I would imagine JSB and H&N marketed and sized their slugs for choked barrels seeing how that's what most pellet guns have. Those are most likely a waste of time with a real slug barrel. Unless CZ cut an undersized bore to accommodate all the undersized slugs on the market for the guys who are squeezing them through chokes. But I doubt it.

Up date after recrowning my barrel , It is shooting amazing I Had sighted in my 34 gr mp and streached its legs , and now I am totally happy with barrel 10 shots 1.1 in 200 yd with my MP 34 gr sized to .217 .

I did shoot a fe clips of the hn 30 gr , held tight also , as the jsb did .

Now I need to reinstall my 2 power plenums and try my 67 gr at weekend , I am thrilled with this barrel ,

HI vetmx , I make most of my ammo , I cast many slugs and I also had corbin swag , and sizers ect , I understand about sizing ammo to barrels , I had my taipan tuned to shoot all of my ammo from 25 to 35 gr ,with my 18 in cz barrel , I do have some great slugs up to 67 gr , so this is why I added 6 inches to mine I wanted to change twist aand make a bit more power
