JSB Knockout's

They work great in my .22 Daystate Red Wolf HP at 955 FPS. The .217 version, not the .216 version, which is horrible in the RW. The .217 at that speed is good for MOA at 100 yards.
I also tried both diameters in my EDGun R3 Long and while the .217 was ok at 890 FPS, it wasn’t nearly as good as the NSA 20.2 at 985 FPS. The .216 was also horrible in the Eddy. The price is less than half the price of the FX Hybrids, plus the Knockouts shoot better in the RW.

I've been waiting for the KOs since we 1st heard about them..
Then forgot all about em' until just now. Derp. Now, I have a question for you guys..

I have an Impact Mkii w/ pp, 600mm bbl w/ Pellet-liner.
That is the primary rifle that I intended to try the KOs out of..
I also have a Dream Tac Compact w/ the shorty bbl..

Any guess/idea or better yet definitive answer as to which version of the slug to go with?
216 vs 217? Or is this once again just going to be a crap shoot with 50/50 chances?

I'd rather get 4 or 5 tins of rounds that'll shoot well vs. having to split em up
and get 1/2 shooting well, and 1/2 ending up as paperweights..
And the buy-4-get-1-free is pointless if I don't know which to go with also..

I Have Terrible Luck!!

So hopefully someone might be able to help out.

I also know the deal.. Every gun/barrel is different and likes / hates different ammo..

Thanks in advance!

🙂👍

PS: Currently just plinking and punching paper with Hades..
I also have a bunch of FX Hybrids to try out, but, waiting on more slugs to compare them with..
*Thoughts on Hybrids vs. Knockouts would be appreciated too!

DirtyDovy,

I don't know much about slug from personal experience — I haven't gotten much actual slug shooting in yet....

I do know about what slugs are currently available to US shooters.

🔶Observations

(1) Almost all of the 210+ slug models/weights offered by 11 manufacturers are available in .217 and .218 diameters. And some make exclusively .217.

(2) Hardly anybody is making smaller sizes, like .216.

(3) Rare exceptions are the following 16 slug models:

(a) JSB (1x | 25gr)

(c) Any day now: NSA (5x | 5c a shot)

(d) Altaros (1x | 31gr heavy)

(e) Mr. Hollowpoint (9x | 50c a shot)

🔶Conclusion

(1) It seems that manufacturers have determined in testing that the largest percentage of guns they are "targeting" for slug use like .217.

(2) You own two FX guns, clearly you are part of the target group of the slug makers.

(3) Since JSB gives you the choice of .216 and .217 only, no .218, I would bet my buy-4-get-1-free order with all .217 😄

(And if you like to play it super safe, get one of the four in .216 — in your case I see no need, you've got a good hand.)

Matthias

PS: In my own slug shooting I have found both .217 and .218 not doing so great in my LW 17.5 barrel — so I will bet my money on the .216 for my order later today. 😄

We will have .216 coming soon. We are just trying to catch up on orders. We also have ordered .2165 and .2175 so in the current nose profile we have you will be able to order .216, .2165, .217, .2175 or .218. Will be about 2 months before .2165 and .2175 are available as we just ordered the dies. .216 we have had just not had time to manufacture but now that we have second high speed press once we are caught up should be no problem.

Not Cool, and I'll be reporting this to Michael..

I just tried to leave a thank you [+1 Accuracy] and the system refused.
[Here's a screen-capture, before the site deleted it and redirected me]

It's bad enough that Google/Facebook/Youtube/Media/etc. is censoring,
and/or using sketchy algorithms.. We don't need sort of thing here.

*Sigh*

That is great news. What gun? The knockouts are heavy so I would image it would take substantial air to get them going above 900fps. Good to hear they may have excellent accuracy at lower velocities.

I’m inclined to try them in my Impact w/ 600mm STX pellet liner. Also want to try the NSA 20.2 and 23 gr slugs with same setup. May upgrade to SSTX liner if and when the .22 cal version is available. Ted has a vid out shooting the KO’s at 1000 fps, which is blazing fast but also requires large amounts of air.

NSA,

you guys rock!! 😊 Let me explain.....

I've been reading a lot about shooting commercially made slugs. And their successful use seems to hinge basically on this one issue: The slug diameter must fit the barrel — otherwise it's no use.

So, the slug sages tell me to slug my barrel and then buy the slug size that will fit my barrel. Problem solved, right? 😄

Nope. I have never slugged my barrel so far. Because until recently there were no slug manufacturers that made slugs in different sizes (besides the lonely two — .217 and .218).

But you at NSA are doing what no-one in the slug universe has done! 👍🏼

.216 | .2165 | .217 | .2175 | .218

5.49 | 5.50 | 5.51 | 5.52 | 5.53

This is the second time that NSA is moving airgunning into a brighter future!

🔶First was that you invested a huge amont of money — tolower the slug prices for us! Your HP slugs are cheaper (5c) than some of the high profile HP pellets.

🔶Now, you are making slugs with the diameters that will fit our barrels.

THANK YOU!! 😊

Matthias

PS: DirtyDovy, thanks for your words! 😊
