JSB Hades News

Yesterday just to try I put my reg at 110 and hst on min on my X and shoot the 15gn jsb...well over 1000 fps! Dang! the Hades are like those in weight if I remember correct...didn´t even try to move the HST wheel to 1 jajaja

I never tried the 16gn (15.89) pellet from my 600mm Impact but you made me curious so I just tested. It averaged 1011fps for 6 shots at 100bar. I shot two at at a 35 yard target and hit about an inch higher than the 18gn but still centered. They shoot through a 1-1/2 inch pine board perpendicular from 3 feet but not at a 45 degree angle. I need to pull the Huma regulator out and reconfigure it with the new parts they sent me. I still have a small spring under the piston as a temporary fix for the original version. It should be able to get under 100 bar after the new parts are installed.

Is there any solid proof that an "expanding" pellet makes an animal any deader than a regular diabolo pellet?

I can shoot them both into a wet phone book, or a couple of tin cans, and the expansion rate difference is barely noticeable in most cases.

Yes, a rapidly expanding projectile will kill faster than a non expanding projectile unless you shoot the brain. Wet books and tin cans are not animals and can't approximate the expansion of a pellet in an animal. Where did you get the Hades to do these tests?

Do you have some of these that you actually tested? Silent Matt @ JSAR shoot some through a styrofoam cup of water and WOW they opened up beautifully

I am tired of domes passing through and the starling flies off to die slowly some place else. I like to keep my semi-wildcats well fed

I have 10 tins on order,ya pryamid air, I should have ordered 11, it would have been free (ordered 8 got 2 free, should have ordered 9/w3 free

I didn't mean to imply that I had compared the Hades, I haven't. Just referring to the other expanding type pellets.

So a styrofoam cup full of water more closely resembles the mass of a squirrel/rabbit/ect. ?

I styrofoam cup of water if far less resistance than wet books or cans. If it opens with light resistance it should open in a bird or squirrel. We'll see when they hit the stores.

Someone here recently reported shooting a squirrel with one through the shoulder and the pellet did not exit.

So I gather that a good number of you have hunted with regular solid round nose pellets and have failed to kill them ? That's interesting. I've lost a few that either fell back into their hole or got stuck in the crotch of a limb too high to knock out, but I can't say that I've hit one that didn't die right away.

Have you ever shot a squirrel that failed to die because the pellet expanded? If I can make the game die one second faster I'm happy. Many of us all over the world think this is a good idea. We don't want the animal to take a single step after being shot. Expanding projectiles do more damage, that's why everyone uses them for self defense. When you hunt with a powder burner do you use full metal jackets? Why use an expensive airgun when a $29 one will kill squirrels just as dead?

I'd like to add that the transfer of energy created by an expanding HP is important as well. A hard or aerodynamic projectile that passes completely through an object and keeps going has not delivered it's maximum FPE into that target. Something that enters and stops inside of the target will produce maximum shock, regardless of the wound channel.
