JSB Hades Accuracy and expansion testing

Thanks for sharing, somehow I missed this thread.

That looks very promising for hunting for sure. I recall hearing that the screw on lid didn’t really impact the price, but not sure if that’s reliable info, so take that with a grain of salt.

The price could be reflecting research & development as well as marketing and inflation in general. For sighting in and hunting a 500 ct tin should last a good while. If the accuracy and knockdown power is there, the price is fine.

$21.99 with the original tin. Still expensive anyway you look at it and that is not with the screw on lids

Well we’ve been dealing with the tins forever so with the tin lid issue aside, is there really any more reasonable less expensive alternative currently on the market that offers the same potential in expansion from a hunting pellet?

OK sure, compared to CPHPs that we can pick up at any locate Walmart the Hades are more than double the price. I get that. But in my analysis, if I’m getting free shipping on my P.A. orders a 500 ct tin of Hades comes in at $0.044 per pellet not including any tax or taking any discounts into consideration. So I guess I don’t consider them all that expensive given other way better choices that are going to offer far more potential in expansion than the CPHPs for a hunting pellet. Compared to a 500 ct tin of 18.13 JSB Jumbo Heavies or even the 15.89 Jumbos (which I’m not really considering these as designated hunting pellets) we’re at .038 per pellet already. So the cost seems pretty competitive to some of the most popular pellets JSB offers. And given that Predator Polymags are almost double the cost, the Hades seem rather reasonable in cost. And comparing the Hades to H&N Baracuda Hunters and Hunter Extremes and all other hollowpoint hunting pellets that H&N offers they are still less expensive than anything I can think of on the market for a designated hunting pellet.

So I guess I’ll ask the question again. Is there really any more reasonable less expensive alternative on the market that offers the same potential in expansion from a hunting pellet? Because maybe I’ve missed something there and I’d like to know if I did.

Jsb are expensive as is. The bigger the caliber the more expensive per tin goes up. 25 caliber is my limit just because of the price of pellets be it jsb or H&n with H&n being the cheaper of the two. My preferred caliber is 177 for up close pesting to 22 for more knock down power and if that doesn’t do the job then I pull out my 25’s. Hades pellets, sure I’ll try a tin of them to compare it to my other pellets in all my 22 caliber guns. The pellets I have thus far have been doing the job killing pest no problem even using the cphp or the cpd from Chinamart. New pellet manufacturer norma airgun pellets at the iwa show Sweden I believe supposed to marketing their pellets around June. Hopefully they are accurate and cheaper than what the two current pellet manufacturers that have the market cornered and can charge what they want to imo

For all of you that are complaining about the cost of pellets specifically a specialty pellet for hunting how many of these do you shoot at game? I don't see or shoot that many critters that I'm hunting for to use that many pellets.

I can understand your point if you are target shooting an shooting hundreds of pellets at paper but using that many pellets for shooting at game!

Keep things in perspective when it comes to hunting vs target shooting.

I have been complaining about the expansion of JSB pellets for years, that is why I don't hunt with them. In my power tuned Cricket .25 I use the H&N Grizzlies, they expand great and have a lot of energy to pass through game. I would like to see this pellet in .25cal. I may switch.

.25 Hades are on the way with .30 after that.

Right. I agree. Considering how close in cost they are per pellet to other JSB pellets we use all the time I thought they are actually very reasonably priced for an actual expanding hunting pellet considering all the other options that are currently available. If the .22 cal Hades are so close in cost to their .22 cal JSB Exact cousins I can’t foresee why they wouldn’t have compatible pricing in the .177 and .25 cal to other JSB Exact pellets of the same caliber when they become available. Maybe I’m missing something but the cost of the Hades is part of what is creating all the buzz about them.

Personally I think it's marketing. We are always looking for something better than what we are currently using regardless if it's pellets or bullets.

So anytime something hits the market people want to try it either out of curiosity or cost considerations. Marketing people know this and exploit, take advantage of it etc and build products around it. New and improved, even if it's not written on the packaging, sells.

It's all about money be it you as a consumer trying to save money or the manufacture making money. That's what it boils down to.
