JSB EXACT flyers

Are you inspecting each and every pellet and single loading them one by one to get the best accuracy?

Are you shooting indoors with no wind and are you using a bubble level to avoid canting the gun and a solid stable high quality rifle rest as well?

Are you shooting the gun well within it's sweet spot if it's NOT regulated say 2650-2750 psi down to 1700-1800psi if it's a typical AA unregulated gun?

Do the 10.3gr AA and 10.6gr H&N Baracuda and 10.5gr brown box Crosman Premiers exhibit the same phenomenon under similar circumstances? Those are the typical brands the AA LW barrel preferred pellets for accuracy in 177.

I just went back to edit my post. I do shoot outside but this occurs on perfectly calm days

Mine is regulated

Although I load individually I do not inspect

As you know pellets have been hard to come by so I'm still waiting for the next shipment of AA 10.34 because they are more accurate for this gun I'll try the Crossman

As for rest... bag in back and bipod . I always check a plum and level

Thanks, I think inspection of each one will help.

Should be NO MORE than 3/4 power on the power dial. Probably 2/3 on the dial would be ideal being totally blind in the dark without a chrony.

Is your gun regulated or not?

If not regulated then only fill to 2700psi max.

Disregard I see you edited that it's regulated. Don't fill it past 3000psi or 205 BAR. The AA regulator may act stupid sometimes if filled past that. Don't ask. I just know...

It won't improve your shooting but could determine optimum speed of pellets for possibly greater accuracy potential unless you are already getting 1/2" or better at 50 yards the way it is then don't need it and probably be a moot point.

It is used as a tool to trouble shoot and see if the gun shoots to factory specs but you got a 177 so it's all up to you. I only use one of my cronies if I have accuracy questions and it's rather rare knock on wood and for FX tuning only.

Oh and an absolute necessity if you own a modern FX gun. (I own many FXs)

I’m assuming you have one of the latest AA rifles with the factory reg and 250 bar fill.
Long story short. JSB’s 10.34 shot from the AA 5** will be more accurate if you keep the speed below 880. Mine’s shooting 860.

But try this-

put the power adjuster so that it is horizontal to the air tube. This will between two indents of the power adjuster. It will stay as long as you don’t bump it. Notice I put a pencil mark to denote center in case it does get moved.

This should tighten up the groups.
you should be able to fill up to 250 bar, I do, and with no problems. I don’t have any.

addressing you chrony question...A chrony will help troubleshoot an issue with a gun related to velocity. Different brands, weights and shapes of pellets will have a terminal velocity where they become unstable.
In your case the S5** shooting JSB 10.34’s start to destabilize beyond 890 fps.
PM me if you have any questions around tuning you gun. Be happy to help.

The answer to your original question is most certainly yes. I shoot the 10.34s at about 720 fps out of a 12 ft-lb Anschutz at 25 meters. I can shoot 3 bulls in a row and the next shot can be high right in the six ring. A few shots later maybe low left in the 5. See flyers all the time out of a single unweighted, unwashed, unsized tin. That's why you prep the pellets first.

I am learning that, thanks

I’ve only shot a few (10-15) AA 10.34’s as they were given to me to try but not enough to make a definitive determination. But from what I saw, about the same. I plan on getting a tin or two to try in earnest. The key is the lower velocity. I know everyone wants power. I get it. I strictly shoot HFT with mine. Precision and repeatability is a big factor so lower velocity doesn’t bother me.

At the end of the day, it’s about pellet experimentation.

I did try the 13.43 redesign. They did well out to about 25y. You might give those a try too. But at 40y they sucked.

Strangely enough....none of the current 25m BR National champions that I know (all of them) did any sort of washing, sorting, weighing or any other pellet prep. Makes a fella wonder, doesn’t it?

Mike

Wow, that's good news. All that sorting and sizing, etc. is too time consuming (and tedious). How do you prep your pellets. Mike?

Mike,

I REALLY appreciate your level-headedness and evidence-based decision making and advice.

Your posts show those traits again and again.

Please, don't get tired of chiming in and injecting evidence from your vast experience of competitive shooting and top tier gun building! THANKS!
