JSB .25 cal King Heavy MKII (33.95 gr)

I picked up a tin of these JSB pellets at the NC airgun show, along with a used Marauder. The rifle is still being tuned and upgraded by my friend Paul Bracaglia, and I sent some of the pellets to him for setup and testing.

Reading online here, it seems that these pellets are shooting well for many users, so I am pleased with my (lucky) choice. There was no head size specification on the tin, based on the JSB website, these are nominally 6.35 mm, the only size offered.

Today I decided to use a Pelletgage to check head sizes. Thought I would share. I found a tight distribution with mostly 6.38 and 6.37, see histogram:

There was a very noticeable amount of clear, waxy coating on the pellets after handling and sorting into glass dishes. I have seen this before on JSB pellets, but this was very pronounced.

The mean diameter was 6.378 with a std deviation of 0.0047 mm. This was a very well controlled tin of pellets, in terms of head diameter. Hope they perform well in my Green Mountain barrel.

Pelletgage, I bought one of your gages and it is great. Using it on .25 H&N and found 4 different sizes in first tin. I find that checking size and putting like with like means good grouping with same sizes. Most all are still fairly accurate, but a slight scope adjust whenever changing sizes is needed. I always wondered about quality control in the sizes I was purchasing and now I know.
